It’s download day for Nintendo, and we have your list of new games right here. Priced at 800 DSi Points, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords challenges you (and if desired, another player)to protect the kingdom of Bartonia from an undead invasion by matching gems and unleashing spells to defeat your opponents in over 150 quests. Also in DSiWare, for 5oo Points is 99Bullets, a retro style space shooter with ten levels and an arcade mode. For 200 DSi Points, you can also pick up 3D Twist & Match, a puzzle game where you match 3D objects to match their silhouettes amidst multiple themes, modes, difficulties, and unlockable trophies.
Nintendo’s Latest Game Downloads Give New Meaning to Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning is a lot more enjoyable with the latest downloadable game offerings from Nintendo. Instead of sprucing up your home, you’re invited to dispose of supernatural enemies and unusual messes, and the only cleanup tools you’ll need are your Wii™ or Nintendo DSi™ systems. In Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for the Nintendo DSiWare™ service, you’ll need to wipe away an undead menace that threatens to destroy their kingdom. In Overflow, now available for the WiiWare™ service, your task is to clean up a colorful but dangerous fuel spill. Some of the action in these games may get messy, but you’ve got everything it takes to restore order.

Gaijin Games really deserves a universal round of applause for developing the insanely addictive, yet unique Bit.Trip franchise. Each 8-bit game in the series has its own properties that makes it stand out from the pack, whether that’s navigating high-speed puzzles, a chaotic shooter, or controlling the series mascot Commander Video through a sidescrolling platformer. What each game has in common, however, is rhythm, focusing on the beat to complete each level.

If you’ve missed playing any titles in the Bit.Trip series, Nintendo has added a free demo of Bit.Trip Beat for WiiWare, available on the Wii Shop Channel today. It’s absolutely worth checking out. Other WiiWare releases this week include Doc Clock: The Toasted Sandwich of Time and Urbanix. Today’s DSiWare releases are Glory Days – Tactical Defense, Animal Boxing, The Seller and Alien Puzzle Adventure.

Sorry to get the first Nintendo Shop Update of 2011 to you so late! I actually just woke up from all the crazy New Year’s Eve festivities. If it wasn’t for chugging a few heart replenishing potions, I probably would have slept for another week.

Nintendo is right on schedule, delivering a stellar selection of downloadable gems for their DSiWare and WiiWare services to kick off the new year. Alas, no Virtual Console games included. Bleh. I wonder what will happen first, Duck Tales on the VC or the apocalypse of 2012. My money is on the Mayans.

For WiiWare comes Sneezies (pictured above), Ghost Mania and a demo of Robox – the main game is also available. For DSiWare comes Word Searcher 2, Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology and Music On: Drums. For game and pricing information, continue reading additional details below the break.

A while back, Gaijin Games announced that there would be six titles in their popular downloadable Bit.Trip series, all featured on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. Since then, we’ve seen Beat, Core, Void, Runner, and Fate all come and go. Today, we’ve learned — thanks to the German software ratings board — that the sixth and final title in the series will be Bit.Trip Flux.

Alex Neuse, founder of Gaijin Games, revealed that the game will be Wii Zapper compatible, giving the impression that it will be a shooter similar to the previous Fate title. Hopefully we’ll get some screenshots sooner than later.

Originally a PC title, the game’s visuals were updated when first released on the WiiWare platform earlier this year. Also releasing today is a WiiWare demo of Cave Story, offering players a chance to experience both the portable and console version of the game.

Other DSiWare releases include Frenzic and Spot It! Challenge. Additional WiiWare releases include Airport Mania: First Flight, and HD Arcade Disc Golf. For the Virtual Console comes the NeoGeo title Magical Drop II. Also, there are three different types of throws available: forehand, backhand and the hammer throw. The forehand and backhand throws change based on the handedness of the player, and can be used to draw or fade a shot, while the hammer throw is less about distance and more about height. Some balloons feature unique characteristics. Special balloons, which come in all four colors, pop every balloon of the same color. Arrow balloons burst everything in the direction the arrow is facing. Rainbow balloons have the same effect as special balloons, but can be thrown against a balloon of any color. And then there are bubble balloons, which simply get in your way. Together, these provide you with great chains and combos that make a puzzle game so much fun. Choose between VS CPU Mode, full of battles with a host of comical characters, and Puzzle Mode, where you’ll enjoy a one-player challenge. Both modes support player-versus-player action, meaning you can have a great time together with friends.

Nintendo’s been known to innovate both in hardware and software offerings. Their latest WiiWare creation is no different. Fluidity blends puzzle with platformer, where players will guide a liquid puddle through mazes and obstacles riddled within an illustrated encyclopedia called Aquaticus.

Navigating the pool of water depends on the movements of the Wii Remote. Tilt to move, shake to jump, or use your power-up abilities to transform water into vapor or ice.

Fluidity will release on WiiWare December 6 for 1200 Wii Points. For a brief look at how to play, view the video above.

Nintendo is giving us the gift of WiiWare game demos this week, as part of their weekly releases for their downloadable services. That’s awfully thoughtful, especially since the latter part of the week is going to be a little rocky, with our pants a little snugger, and our wallets a little lighter.

Today the Big N is bringing free demos, available for WiiWare titles And Yet It Moves, BIT.TRIP FATE, Jett Rocket and ThruSpace. All of these titles have received critical acclaim so if you’ve yet to purchase them out, take advantage of the fact that they are free to try!

New for WiiWare this week is peguin-filled adventure title Snowpack Park. For DSiWare this week releases include Tetris Party Live, and online enabled Tetris game, as well as Supermarket Mania and Music on: Electric Guitar. For the Virtual Console comes Spin Master.

For more information about these games, as well as pricing details, continue reading the official press release below the break.

Snowpack Park
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1-2
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) – Comic Mischief
Price: 800 Wii Points
Description: Welcome to Snowpack Park! You’ve arrived in hopes of hanging out with some of the local penguins and learning how to take care of them. However, a recent storm has just sent the residents of the park fleeing to various islands throughout the area, and there are only a few penguins to be found. Take control of either a Mii™ character or one of the game’s built-in characters and brave various terrains and unexpected obstacles. Travel from island to island, find penguins and bring them back safely to the park. But getting them back is just the beginning. The penguins have different moods, which will go up and down depending on how much interaction they have with you. If a penguin’s mood gets too bad, it will leave the park. To prevent that from happening, you must learn how to feed, pet and play with the penguins in order to keep them happy. Throughout the park, you’ll also find fun minigames to play, headwear pieces for the penguins to wear, fish for them to eat, blowfish to roll up into snowballs and a variety of other useful things. You can even collect photos of yourself and the penguins by visiting one of the park’s photo-taking locations. Prepare for a heartwarming Antarctic adventure!
