Art Style WiiWare games headed for Europe

Published by Rhody
Tags: Art Style, Cubello, Orbient, Rotohex, WiiWare

Europeans are always getting the short end of the game release stick. Well, Europe is about to have three fewer games to pine for. The Art Style WiiWare games (Orbient, Rotohex, and Cubello) are making their way across the pond.

The Art Style games are designed with simplicity in mind. The graphics are polished and the gameplay is easy to learn. Did I mention they’re insanely addicting? I can’t close my eyes without seeing Rotohex on the insides of my eyelids any more.

The first game will launch on November 21st, and the other two will hit the WiiWare service each of the two following weeks.

Interior Decorators and Aliens invade WiiWare

Two new WiiWare games for North Americans are available this week: the first one revisits Hudson’s Alien Crush franchise, and the second lets you buy and move furniture.

Now, I don’t know about the rest of you, but if I had a kid that wanted to play pinball, I’d rather buy him or her a simple, $8 video game and be done with it, rather than having all my cash converted into quarters and basically being sucked dry. If I had a kid who wanted to move furniture around, I’d tell him/her to rearrange the garage for me.

Then again, I was among those who got hooked on The Sims when it first came out, building and decorating houses… so I guess I can’t talk.

  • Alien Crush Returns (Hudson, 800 Wii Points)
  • Home Sweet Home (Big Blue Bubble, 1000 Wii Points)

DSiWare gets bigger with WarioWare and more

Published by Rhody

The DSi will be getting lots of WarioWare love, with several new WarioWare games and programs announced for DSiWare.

Firstly, Nintendo plans to make individual mini games (not micro games, but mini games) from the original WarioWare game available for download for 200 Nintendo Points each. Nintendo has also announced a whole new game called “Utsuso! Made in Wario,” which basically means “Take a Picture! Made in Wario.” (Made in Wario being the Japanese name for WarioWare.) This new game will, predictably, take advantage of the DSi’s built-in camera for micro games, much like Smooth Moves made use of the pointer and motion sensor in the Wii remote, and Touched took advantage of the DS touch screen and microphone.

Got all that? Good, because there’s more.

Hit the tables with Alien Crush on WiiWare

Published by Ryan
Tags: Alien Crush, Hudson Entertainment, WiiWare

Many tears have been shed over the years with the closure of many arcades across the country, along with the hordes of coin-op pinball machines from various bars, gas stations and pizza joints. Hudson is currently developing a science fiction based pinball game exclusively for WiiWare. Peter Dassenko has stated:

You’ll see a few different tables. They all have the same sci-fi alien feel, but each one features different enemies and has different target and ramp layouts. It’s pinball, but it’s not your father’s pinball.

For those of you who don’t remember the previous TurboGraphix-16 Alien Crush, you are in for a treat! Thanks Jim for the tip!

October 27: WiiWare games for attractive people

Published by Christian
Tags: Art Style, Strong Bad Episode 3, WiiWare

Honestly, I thought it would take longer. This week’s WiiWare lineup includes all games that extend a WiiWare (or broader) franchise to three games. They’re not bad games, by any means: you’re getting a third episode of Strong Bad and another installment into Nintendo’s Art Style franchise.

  • Strong Bad Episode 3: Baddest of the Bands (Telltale Games, 1000 Wii Points)
  • Art Style: ROTOHEX (Nintendo, 600 Wii Points)

Second (and possibly final) batch of Mega Man 9 DLC available

Published by Rhody
Tags: Fake Man, Mega Man 9, WiiWare

Capcom has released three more pieces of downloadable content for Mega Man 9. They are two new difficulty levels called Hero and Super Hero modes, and an extra stage for Time Attack mode.

The two new difficulty levels change enemy distribution and spawning points. You know, just in case you still have some hair on your head you haven’t ripped out while playing the game on the standard difficulty level.

The extra Time Attack stage has a difficulty level that rivals that of Dr. Wily’s Castle. It features bosses from other stages and a brand new boss; Fake Man.

All three pieces of DLC are available now via the DLC menu in-game for 100 points each.

It’s a Tetris Party on WiiWare!

Published by Christian
Tags: Tetris Party, The Incredible Maze, WiiWare

As if you haven’t gotten enough Tetris in your life (I’m looking at all of those with 99,999,999 scores in Tetris DS), the latest iteration of the classic is now available on the WiiWare service for twelve dollars. Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy it - it IS Tetris after all, and it’s got some fancy upgrades in terms of new modes, online, multiplayer, and online multiplayer. I’ll most likely be downloading this one later today, myself. But let’s be honest: how much money have you spent on Tetris games in your life by now?

  • Tetris Party (Tetris Online, Inc., 1,200 Wii Points)
  • The Incredible Maze (Digital Leisure Inc., 500 Wii Points)

World of Goo plops onto WiiWare

Published by Christian
Tags: Art Style, Tetris DS, WiiWare, World of Goo

Looking to spend $15 on a game that exists only in download form? It might actually be worth it this week with World of Goo now available to North American Wii owners. It’s a physics-based construction game made by a whopping two guys. Two guys, and bucks a download. Talk about raking it in.

Also available on the service this week is the next entry into Nintendo’s Art Style series: CUBELLO. Remember the Metroid-themed “catch” mode in Tetris DS? It’s kinda like that, but in 3D. Hopefully, that makes it exciting for a change.

  • World of Goo (2D Boy, 1500 Wii Points)
  • Art Style: CUBELLO (Nintendo, 600 Wii Points)

PAL WiiWare releases for 10-10

Published by Christian
Tags: Mega Man 9, Midnight Bowling, Potpourrii, WiiWare

It’s a WiiWare week in Europe, and that means more great games! …right?

Potpourrii and Midnight Bowling are the only new titles this week, both available for 800 points each. I’ve not played either yet (both are available here in North America), so hopefully some of our other readers can give their opinions.

  • Midnight Bowling (Gameloft, 800 Wii Points)
  • Potpourrii (Abstraction Games, 800 Wii Points)

In addition, more downloadable modes will be available for Mega Man 9 today, so be sure to check those out if you’ve already played through the Capcom platformer.
