Wii Music not striking a chord with potential buyers (yet)

Published by Rhody

Speaking of video games and music, the numbers are in for Wii Music’s first two weeks on store shelves, and they’re not all that high. Nintendo’s own Cammie Dunaway, citing NPD figures, says the non-game sold “65 or 66,000″ units. Cammie isn’t worried, though.

We’re predicting that it’s going to be an evergreen title. And if you look at titles like ‘Brain Age,’ it’s about the same as what ‘Brain Age’ did during it’s first few weeks and went on to sell 2.5 million copies. ‘Wii Fit’ certainly had a larger launch than that. But I think that people are starting to understand ‘Wii Music.’

Fitness continues into week 10

Published by Pete

Sorry for the late update this week, the three of us have become increasingly busy as the semester begins the final stretch into… well… finals. The board remains pretty solid this week, which is great after the loses of the previous.

Of course there is still a giant delicious curve ball (or Butterball perhaps) to come. A twist in the plot with more gravy, cranberries, and tryptophan than any mortal man could possibly resist. You guessed it, I’m talking about having a new President.

The Wii Fit race tightens in week 9

The election may be on the front of every one’s minds this week, but the other race is just starting to get interesting. Baby Kanga has come out of nowhere to put himself back into the mix, as Pwnie Boy solidified his spot on top with another solid week. I don’t get to go home for Thanksgiving this year, so I hope that will help be move back into the contention in a few weeks. Eat all the pumpkin pie you can find, you two. I promise it won’t hurt anything. It’s basically weightless. In fact I heard you lose weight by eating it.

Week 8 sees more losses, which is a good thing

After a pretty unsteady start, things have become a little more consistent. Pwnie Boy has lengthened his lead a little, Joey is sitting rock solid at the weight he came in at (you just can’t mess with perfection, I’ve tried to tell him), and the Crusader has moved down ever so slightly. One month left.

Challenge stretches into week 7

Published by Pete

I stepped on my balance board yesterday for the routine BMI check, and was pleasantly surprised (and a little alarmed) to see the number 22.97 pop up on the screen. I was proud, then curious, then skeptical, and finally noticed that one of the extended carpet feet had fallen off. Balance board fail.

Wii Fit Challenge: Half way home

Published by Pete
Tags: Week 6 results, Wii, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Challenge

The Challenge officially has a 50% completion rate! Which means half of has gone by the wayside, or, depending on how you look at it, there is still just as much fitness left to come. I see the glass as half empty. Mainly because of the sad amount of fitness that has been had thus far. Although every competitor did sneak under par this week. Hopefully the next six weeks will start to see increased results!

Go on vacation and play more video games

In case you’ve got some downtime while taking a business trip to New York, Boston, Maryland, or Phoenix, or simply want to waste the money your parents spent for you to go sightseeing, you can now play the Wii! Nintendo has partnered with Marriott Hotels to include special Wii systems in a limited number of rooms at six hotels.

An impressive 20 titles, including Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, and Wii Fit will be available with the deal. Yeah, I’m assuming that means the rooms will come with the snazzy Wii Balance Board as well. Of course, the games are all played without actual game discs, which makes you wonder what Nintendo’s using to store 20 discs-worth of video games…

You can read up on the details past the break to help plan where you want to go for the next trip.

Week three has come to a close, and with it goes Yankee Stadium, the Patriots, and Baby Kanga’s commanding lead. There is still plenty of time left, but it’s going to take a significant pace change for all three competitors to make a dent into their BMI’s. Click over for the results thus far.

Wii Fit Girl takes revenge

Published by Pete
Tags: Wii, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Girl

Remember that girl who was taped shaking her virtual hula hoop all over YouTube on a balance board? Well Lauren has finally given her boyfriend Gio the comeuppance he deserved. Last week on the Tyra Banks Show, she talked him into giving the mini-game a whirl. With his pants at his ankles. Just a lesson for men everywhere, she is always right, whether it’s now or in a few months.

It’s Sunday night, and you know what that means… Football! As well as Wii Fit. Week 2 of our competition has come to a close, and it looks like everyone is surviving so far. Unfortunately, surviving doesn’t always mean shedding those unsightly side rolls. Especially when you are surviving on Reese’s. Check out the progress after the break.
