Looks like Max Weinberg wasn’t the only treasure from Conan O’ Brien’s The Tonight Show to not make the transition to cable television. Conan premiered Monday night on TBS, but as many-a-gamer noticed, his Super Mario monologue backdrop wasn’t brought along for the ride.

It’s a shame we only got to see that awesome set piece used for the few months CoCo took up the hosting duties during the NBC 11:30pm time slot. I can only assume Jay Leno had the whole thing burned in the parking lot after Conan’s last show.

Those that love watching the dysfunctional adventures of Nancy Botwin Newman and company on Weeds may have noticed a video game reference in last night’s episode in the form of a poster. When Andy and Silas visited “The Chinaman” to get fake IDs, the crafty kid had a poster of MadWorld on his wall.

While the black and white beat ‘em up Wii game wasn’t exactly “popular” in terms of sales, it will forever serve as part of the of misadventures of the Newman’s trek through America.

Mindscape has announced that several popular European TV shows will get their own video games for the Wii and DS systems.  Many of the shows also appear here in the US, although the titles haven’t been announced outside of Europe.  Some of these shows will include I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Beat The Intro, Total Wipeout, Deal or No Deal, Countdown, Family Fortunes, and Ready Steady Cook.

The collection of titles are set to ship between October and the end of the year.  Games such as I’m a Celebrity… will also make use of the Wii balance board.

Awesome games? Check. A mascot more recognizable than Santa? Check. Baseball team? Check. TV show? Check! World domination? …Next.

Don’t get too excited though, there won’t be any marathons of the classic Zelda or Mario cartoons. Instead the show, titled Britain’s Best Brain, looks to be closer to a real life version of Brain Age. It tasks contestants with problems focusing on memory, co-ordination, numeracy, recognition and risk. Sounds fun. Nintendo has claimed exclusive rights to sponsorship of the program.

Or is it? (careful, there’s a bit of swearing in this video) With E3 already underway, we’re going to be getting a massive amount gamer-friendly news over the next week, so to help fans stay in touch and persevere, we need a little humor every once in a while to tide us over. You remember the “Who’s that Pokemon” game? I’m pretty sure anyone who’s played Pokemon or watched the TV series itself for long enough pretty much aced it every time. Not this kid.
