All that pissin’ and moaning and flask swilling for nothing. While the omission of the North America from the announcement of a Zelda 3DS seemed to indicate our region would not have a chance to purchase the anniversary bundle, due in Europe November 25, a Black Friday advertisement would now suggest otherwise. The Gamestop ad shows the Zelda themed 3DS bundle alongside another featuring Super Mario 3D Land and the Flame Red 3DS. And lest my eyes deceive me, you can also trade in your old DS and purchase one of the bundles for only $99.99. Give thanks!

Nintendo confirms Zelda themed 3DS bundle for Europe

This holiday season, European Zelda fans will get a chance to celebrate the 25th anniversary in style, with a new bundle sure to evoke some serious cross culture console envy. Featuring gold lettering and slider bar and a graceful Hylian crest and Ocarina pattern on the exterior, this stunning tribute to the Legend of Zelda series will come bundled with a copy of Ocarina of Time 3D, and will hit UK shelves November 25.

Insects Make Potions Bazaar in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Nintendo has announced new information about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. One new feature is as Link travels between Skyloft and the surface below, he will collect insects. You can use these insects at the Bazaar in Skyloft to add ingredients to potions giving them new powerful effects. Another new feature involves the Wii MotionPlus. With the MotionPlus, swimming feels much more natural in Skyward Sword.

Finally two new locations were revealed by Nintendo. Later in his journey, Link will travel to Lake Floria which is located in Faron Woods. The Lake is inhabited by the squid-like Parella tribe, which make its first appearance in Skyward Sword. The other location, Fun Fun Island, is one of the islands that floats above Skyloft. As the name suggests, there is much fun to be had there. Before Link can enjoy Fun Fun Island, he must complete a quest for its lone inhabitant.

I find myself becoming more and more excited for Skyward Sword and Nintendo’s latest announcement didn’t calm that excitement. I’m curious on how you will be able to customize potions. Do they start out as a basic red potion and with the insects do they become similar to the blue potion? I suppose we will have to wait until November to find out!

POTIONS, LAKES AND LINK’S WHIP AMONG REVEALED ELEMENTS IN THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SKYWARD SWORD

Nintendo has revealed another set of details about the fascinating areas, items and game play in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword game, which will launch exclusively for the Wii™ system on Nov. 20. Following last week’s unveiling of new information about the Faron Woods area of the game, fans can now glimpse additional details about this and other areas, plus a sneak peek at how players can maneuver Link™ through watery environments and help him wield a whip using the Wii Remote™ Plus controller. Newly revealed game elements include the following:

• Lake Floria and the Parella Tribe: Later in his quest, Link must make his way to an as-yet-undiscovered section of the Faron Woods that is home to Lake Floria. The lake is inhabited by the squid-like Parella tribe, which makes its first appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Even when revisiting past areas like Faron Woods, players will make new discoveries and, occasionally, find drastic changes to the environment that require them to explore these areas in entirely different ways.

• Swimming: As one might expect, getting to and exploring Lake Floria requires Link to swim. The intuitive motion control of the Wii Remote Plus gives players a natural way to control Link as he swims across the lake’s surface or into its watery depths.

• Insects and Potions: Throughout the game, Link travels back and forth between the surface and Skyloft. Players can collect bugs in the various areas they visit, and these insects can be used to infuse new ingredients into the variety of different potions available for purchase at the bazaar in Skyloft, giving the potions powerful new effects. Players can experiment with different potions and insects to find the concoctions that best meet their needs.

• Fun Fun Island: Also new in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is Fun Fun Island, one of the small islands that float above the clouds near Link’s hometown. As the name suggests, there’s a lot of fun to be had there, but before Link can enjoy everything the island has to offer, he must find a way to fulfill the request of its lone inhabitant.

• Whip: Players can use the Wii Remote Plus to lash Link’s whip at enemies and objects. The whip also can be used to grab items and is integral to solving certain puzzles. Link’s items can be selected in real time without pausing the game when he is on the ground, making it easier to switch between a sword and other items.

Nintendo will continue to regularly provide fans with select details and information about the game prior to its Nov. 20 launch. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be available as a standalone game or as part of a limited-edition bundle that also includes a gold-colored Wii Remote Plus controller. Additionally, every copy in the initial production runs of the game will come packaged with a special music CD containing orchestral arrangements of select songs that will be performed at the upcoming The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert.

Listen up, Nintendo fanboys. You may want to log-in to your Club Nintendo accounts and check on your elite status, because the Club Nintendo year ends June 30. That’s Thursday, for those summer slackers that have no concept of time. Still no idea what I’m saying? You have FOUR days!

Club Nintendo gives free gifts to those who earn enough coins to warrant a Gold or Platinum status rank by the 30th. To earn a Gold level prize, you’ll need to scrounge up 300 coins, while Platinum rank is achieved at 600 coins. Last year’s Platinum prize was a Super Mario cast figurine, while Gold members received a calendar.

Last year, those secret prizes were announced on July 1 — which is a Friday this year — so you’ll likely discover what your well deserved gift is before the weekend. I’m hoping for some celebratory Legend of Zelda swag myself. What better way than to commemorate the franchise’s 25th anniversary?

The Legend of Zelda turns 25!

Just like his older, rounder, mustached plumber brother did last year, Link today turns 25 with the anniversary of The Legend of Zelda on Nintendo’s Famicom System. While retaining his green tunic, pointy hat, and signature sword, we’ve seen Link evolve from boy to warrior. He’s endured countless battles, saved Princess Zelda from peril endless times, and defeated Ganon — in all of his forms — more times than you can shake a Deku stick at.

We’ve seen Link journey from sidescrolling adventures in Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link, to portable adventures like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, to 3D adventures with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. So the question stands to be answered, what is your favorite Zelda title? You have plenty to choose from, so think carefully and let us know!

This Dark Link statue is worth every rupee

The folks at First 4 Figures have created several timeless statues, with pieces including Samus, Link, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Based on images of their newest creation, they may have outdone themselves. The company has announced a brand new statue of one of Link’s Ocarina of Time adversaries, Dark Link.

Dark Link battled our beloved Hero of Time in a large pool of water residing at the Water Temple. This 12-inch tall statue captures the shadowy foe flawlessly, with an exceptional amount of detail included in every aspect.

The statue will be sold in two models, a regular version and an “exclusive” model featuring red glowing eyes, and four pulsating lights that dazzle the surrounding water. The exclusive model will be available for $190, but is limited to just 500 pieces while the standard edition will be sold for $170, with 2,500 units available. Assuming you’ve got enough rupees in your wallet, this is a hard item for any Zelda fan to pass up when they debut later this year.

Zeldathon for the American Diabetes Association – Home Stretch

We’re entering the final six hours of the Zeldathon marathon, and that’s plenty of time for you to head on over and support their cause.
