When it comes to the time continuum of the Zelda series, Nintendo throws caution to the wind. Nevertheless, some of us fans obsess over the timeline to no end. Luckily, it seems that someone’s managed to figure it all out: Doc Brown. We’ve gotta go back in time!

If you can get past the roughly minute-and-a-half intro without cringing, the rest of this video is golden – Zelda golden — and if you’re anything like me, you’ll geek out at all the references. Heck, even Link’s voice is perfect for this video. I may not have been around for most of the 80s, but I’ve got a lot of nostalgia for it… that decade was the bomb!

This Dark Link statue is worth every rupee

The folks at First 4 Figures have created several timeless statues, with pieces including Samus, Link, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Based on images of their newest creation, they may have outdone themselves. The company has announced a brand new statue of one of Link’s Ocarina of Time adversaries, Dark Link.

Dark Link battled our beloved Hero of Time in a large pool of water residing at the Water Temple. This 12-inch tall statue captures the shadowy foe flawlessly, with an exceptional amount of detail included in every aspect.

The statue will be sold in two models, a regular version and an “exclusive” model featuring red glowing eyes, and four pulsating lights that dazzle the surrounding water. The exclusive model will be available for $190, but is limited to just 500 pieces while the standard edition will be sold for $170, with 2,500 units available. Assuming you’ve got enough rupees in your wallet, this is a hard item for any Zelda fan to pass up when they debut later this year.

E3 2010: Nintendo confirms Ocarina of Time for 3DS (Updated)

Among a stellar lineup of new and 3D remakes of older gems, Nintendo quietly confirmed one more title to add to the list of 3DS titles. A new 3DS version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming.

Zelda fans, one more thing… We’re proud to introduce The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D!

Based on The Tanooki’s hands-on look at the handheld, there’s good reason to be excited about revamped classic games utilizing the 3D effect mixed with the improved graphics. Get excited, folks!

Relive Link’s finest adventure with Ocarina of Time necklace

Friday Night Concerts: Gerudo Valley on Marimba

Just thought I’d hop on here to revive a weekly segment. Who likes game music?

I absolutely love percussion ensembles, simply because there’s such a wide array of instruments to choose from. Often times you can have several performers, each taking completely different instruments allowing for a unique blend of sounds. Other times, you can use fewer instruments and still manage to bring a fresh sound to an old classic. In the case of this video, the performers opt for a single marimba for the three of them, performing the Gerudo Valley music from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It’s easily a fun performance I think you’ll enjoy.

The only thing that bothers me is that they seem to be using the same mallets for all ranges of the marimba (which you shouldn’t do)… but seeing as I’m not primarily a percussionist, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume my eyes know nothing, that these kids know what they’re doing, and just sit back to enjoy the video!

If Norway’s Got Talent, it’s not in this Zelda video

I’m sorry. I normally spare you all from the mass of bad covers of video game music out there, simply because I don’t like having to rip on musicians (since I am one), you don’t like hearing them, and it’s not worth posting. However, in this case, a couple of gamers from Norway managed to get on TV with it.

On the show Norway’s Got Talent (yeah, just like the versions in other nations including our own), Richard and Andreas decided to perform their rendition of “Epona’s Song” from Ocarina of Time. Their instruments weren’t in tune with each other, with themselves, Richard needs to learn about phrasing and articulation, and I think Andreas only knows the chords to the intro vamp and not the song itself. I was wincing long before the first judge buzzed them out, and I’m baffled that they even made the cut to be aired.

At one point, they make the comment that they didn’t want to disclose how many hours of games they play a week to avoid looking like a nerd. Amen to the judge that suggested they just stick to playing games instead.

Zelda fan reorchestrates Ocarina of Time soundtrack

Video game soundtracks are often as memorable as the games themselves, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as no exception. One Zelda fan embarked on a journey 6 years ago to reorchestrate the entire soundtrack of the game in order to sound as if a live orchestra was providing the score of Link’s adventure. While many of the songs were previously released, the last 22 songs of the collection have been finalized, offering a collection of 82 tracks.

Fan crossover – The Legend of Halo: Quest For Recon

Not quite sure how this intrigued me for seven minutes. I know people that just sit around at their computers watching YouTube videos of other people play through games – an odd practice if you ask me. Perhaps it’s the crossover aspect of this video. There’s just something about Link’s voice and grunts coming out of someone other than Link that just seems to mess with my head.

Then again, maybe I just enjoy Halo-related machinima. I think I’ll go watch The Blood Gulch Chronicles again.

Eiji Aonuma says “sorry” to Zelda fans

Although credited as one of the best video games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time did have some faults, that is according to the game’s creator Eiji Aonuma. “The Water Temple in the Ocarina of Time was notorious for being very tough to conquer,” Aonuma told Guardian. “I am most sorry that it was not easy for you to put on and take off the heavy boots; that all the time you had to visit the inventory. I am very sorry about that.” Ironically, I just finished re-playing the game, and forgot just how truly annoying that was.

Aonuma has been speaking a lot lately about the Zelda franchise, and new MotionPlus-heavy Zelda Wii title. He also has told Zelda fans to keep an eye on E3 2010, as they are trying their best to have something ready to show. Whether a trailer or just a few screenshots, we’ll take what we can get.

And just a fun fact, according to the article. Aonuma is the leader of a 40-piece band, all composed of Nintendo employees. Their name? The Wind Wakers.
