North American WiiWare/Virtual Console update for December 15th, 2008

Published by Rhody
Tags: Big Kahuna Party, Enduro Racer, Strong Bad

Two spiffy new WiiWare games and a single Virtual Console game came with this morning’s update. Let’s take a look.

WiiWare
—

Strong Bad Episode 5: 8-Bit Is Enough (Telltale Games, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older-Mild Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief, Mild Suggestive Themes, 1,000 Wii Points): It’s the very last episode of Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People of the whole season. He will be missed.

Big Kahuna Party (Reflexive Entertainment Inc., 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 700 Wii Points): It’s connect-three. Again. With Wii Remotes and multiplayer. And fish.

Virtual Console
—

Enduro Racer™ (SEGA Master System, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Avoid rocks and trees and your own exploding bike. Exploding bikes? You can’t go wrong with exploding bikes.

That’s it for this week. Not a horrible selection.

Mega Man 9 fires onto PAL WiiWare service

Published by Christian
Tags: Europe, Helix, Mega Man 9, Strong Bad, WiiWare

Mega Man 9 launched in Europe yesterday (and yesterday/two days ago in Australia, depending on when you read this), along with the second episode of Strong Bad. Joining it is a little title known as Helix. For those of you in North America that didn’t bother to download it either, it’s a music and rhythm game that gives your arms a bit of a workout. Nothing like a bit of techno/Europop to start your day, right?

Of course not. You’re all probably well into a fight with Hornet Man by now.

  • Mega Man 9 (Capcom, 1000 Wii Points)
  • Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free (Telltale Games, 1000 Wii Points)
  • Helix (Ghostfire Games, 1000 Wii Points)

Strong Bad swims over to PAL WiiWare

Following suit after the Americans last week, Europeans can, as of this past Friday, download the first episode of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People for WiiWare. Joining it on the service is Hudson’s My Aquarium, which essentially turns your television set into a fish aquarium - and hopefully a big screen one. It’s apparently even good enough to have its own genre!

  • Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (Telltale Games, 1000 Wii points)
  • My Aquarium (Hudson, 500 Wii Points)

I’ve been out of the news scene for a while on personal matters, but I’m pretty sure My Aquarium isn’t out in the States yet. When it arrives, I’m gonna be all over that.

WiiWare gets Bad, Strong Bad

The first episode of the Strong Bad series to be released has arrived, and looks to be riddled with inside jokes and humor ala the cartoons and such on the web-star’s page.

  • Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (Telltale Games, 1000 Wii points)

If you aren’t familiar with the site, I suggest checking it out (whether buying the game or not). Be careful though, there are a few “songs” that can burninate their way into your head for a few days. As usual, Nintendo’s description after the break.
