Capcom needs to work on their press release headings. I read “Resident Evil^® 5, Street Fighter^® IV, Bionic Commando^®, Dead Rising^TM: Chop Till You Drop, FLOCK! and MotoGP^TM for Wii^TM Ready to Dominate the Console World” as being some megaton announcement for Wii owners. And then I read the rest of the release.

Still, it’s a good day when Dead Rising gets a firm release date for the Wii - you’ll be buying it on February 27th. If you insist on not chopping till your drop, MotoGP will also be available for Wii owners sometime in the middle of May. This is, of course, on top of the automatic purchases of Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, since some of us just don’t want to believe Jill is really dead. Or worse - the epitomy of “dead rising” in a game about zombies.

Capcom VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development Christian Svensson took a few questions regarding Bionic Commando and Street Fighter on Capcom’s forums recently. When one user stated that Street Fighter II HD Remix would be possible as a WiiWare game, Svensson had this to say:

It couldn’t ever be Wiiware, even at 480p. File size is just too large given the storage restrictions for Wiiware. Theoretically it could be disc based but there are no plans at the moment. We’ll see how it does on its current platforms and then maybe we’ll see.

In the meantime, there are three different versions of Street Fighter II on the Virtual Console for Wii-owning Street Fighter fans. You can even download the whole soundtrack for free (and completely legally, of course) from OCRemix.org.

While Street Fighter IV has been confirmed for release on the DS, we know it will look nothing like what the above trailer has to offer. Still, it’s good to see how the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are coming along. Plus, it’ll give us an idea of how the DS version will play in terms of the style of combat.
