Capcom discusses Wii versions of Bionic Commando Rearmed and Street Fighter

Capcom VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development Christian Svensson took a few questions regarding Bionic Commando and Street Fighter on Capcom’s forums recently. When one user stated that Street Fighter II HD Remix would be possible as a WiiWare game, Svensson had this to say:

It couldn’t ever be Wiiware, even at 480p. File size is just too large given the storage restrictions for Wiiware. Theoretically it could be disc based but there are no plans at the moment. We’ll see how it does on its current platforms and then maybe we’ll see.

In the meantime, there are three different versions of Street Fighter II on the Virtual Console for Wii-owning Street Fighter fans. You can even download the whole soundtrack for free (and completely legally, of course) from OCRemix.org.

PAL Virtual Console update for October 17th

It’s Friday again. TGIF, right? We seem to be getting a new version of Street Fighter II every VC day, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Special Champion Edition is now available in Europe. And Australia. Two other 500-point games join it this week, but go figure - I’ve not played any of them before. If you have, feel free to share your experiences!

  • Space Harrier (Sega Master System, 500 Wii Points)
  • Mayhem in Monsterland (Commodore 64, 500 Wii Points)
  • Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (Sega Mega Drive, 800 Wii Points)

Virtual Console gets Secret of Mana. And Street Fighter II. Again.

Two new additions to the Virtual Console today. What’s that? A Square Enix title? Really? Yes, it is! And what’s that other one? A third version of Street Fighter II on the Virtual Console? Why, indeed it is!

In all seriousness, I hear this version of Street Fighter II is probably the best of the three. Whether it’s worth the money if you’ve already paid $16 for the other two versions, I couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you is that the first game today? Totally worth it.

  • Secret of Mana (Super NES, 800 Wii Points)
  • Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (Sega Genesis, 800 Wii Points)
