Famitsu reveals Square-Enix DS RPG Blood of Bahamut

Published by Rhody
Tags: Blood of Bahamut, Square Enix

Square-Enix has a brand new DS RPG in the works, called Blood of Bahamut. The game may or may not have something to do with the 1996 SNES RPG Bahamut Lagoon, since currently available artwork shows a giant dragon and what may or may not be a floating city or castle. One thing it definitely references is Bahamut from Arabian mythology, which is a giant fish that holds the world on its head. Blood of Bahamut involves a city built on the top of a giant, which wakes up during an enemy attack. Chaos most likely ensues.

Blood of Bahamut will feature cooperative local multiplayer with up to four players. More information is expected to be revealed at Japan’s Jump Fiesta. Click the image above for a full view.

Chrono Trigger DS brings a new ending along for the ride

Published by Pete
Tags: alternate ending, Chrono Trigger DS, Nintendo DS, Square Enix

No one should need an extra incentive to revisit one of the greatest RPG’s of all time, but just in case, Square Enix has included another ending for anyone who needs a little extra motivation.

Details on what exactly happens are pretty scarce. Which basically means there are none. Except, that is, for the above screen shot showing Frog, Crono, and Marle hanging out around a time gate.

New Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game headed for Wii and DS

Published by Rhody
Tags: Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy, Square Enix

A new Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles game made an appearance in the latest Shonen Jump magazine in Japan. There will be a Wii version and a DS version, and both versions will interact for some sweet multiplayer action. Gamers will even have the option of transferring their Miis to the DS version of the game.

You know, a new Crystal Chronicles game is always welcome, but whatever happened to that other Wii Crystal Chronicles game?

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is set for a January 29th release in Japan.

The 2008 Tokyo Game Show is quickly approaching, and Square Enix now knows what they’ll be sharing. Their website confirms which games will be playable at the show, and which ones will be restricted to trailers. The Wii and DS titles are listed below:

  • Chrono Trigger - Trailer
  • Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book - Demo, Trailer

  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - Demo, Trailer
  • Pingu’s Wonderful Carnival - Demo, Trailer

Chrono Trigger Box Art Revealed!

Published by Ryan
Tags: Chrono Trigger, Nintendo DS, Square Enix

Square-Enix has chosen to bless us with just a taste of what’s to come with the future release of the Nintendo DS title, Chrono Trigger.  Just by looking at the cover art, it seems that gameplay isn’t the only element that retains it’s retro look, but in certain situations its better not to fix what isn’t broken.

I might be part of the 1% of Nintendo gamers that didn’t have a chance to play this on the SNES (ducks, to avoid rocks), this doesn’t mean that I’m not excited once new information hits the inter-web.  This game will be available to North America on November 25th 2008.

Europe gets their “turn” with Super Mario RPG

Published by Ryan

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has hit the European Virtual Console. What makes this release especially newsworthy is the fact that this game was never released in Europe on the SNES back in 1996. European gamers finally can figure out who this strange “Geno” character was, and have flashbacks of other games created when Square and Nintendo used to be tight like this *crosses fingers*.

You lucky European folks! You are blessed with one of my favorite titles growing up. It is only a matter of time before this hits the U.S., and you can guarantee that once it does, various gamers from the 80’s and 90’s will ignore their children, jobs, and lives, just to complete this adventure one more time.

Set your clocks: Chrono Trigger coming Nov 25th

Published by Christian
Tags: Chrono Trigger, Nintendo DS, Square Enix

We were going to get an announcement sooner or later, and here it is. Square Enix has officially confirmed the North American release of Chrono Trigger for the Nintendo DS on November 25th.

Yeah, it’s a whole three months away, and ironically you can’t travel through time until you actually have the game. Luckily, it comes out three days before Black Friday. You’ll be too occupied playing the game to consider dealing with the madness in the malls.

$10 gift card at Circuit City with purchase of Final Fantasy IV

Published by Ryan
Tags: Final Fantasy IV, Nintendo DS, Square Enix

It’s quite disappointing that Square Enix is one of the few publishers that actually charges $39.99 for most of their Nintendo DS titles, but this deal at Circuit City should soften the blow. If you purchase Final Fantasy IV on the Nintendo DS this week, you will receive a $10.00 gift card for a future purchase.

Even though we can’t use this title to lower the price for FFIV, you can always use the gift card to purchase something extra for yourself. This sale is for in-store and online purchases, and will be in effect until this Saturday.

Your life as a king still requires that you use your own credit card

Remember all those recent goodies made available to Japanese owners of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King? The ones that cost you more money? It looks like PAL owners can now buy them too!

Same exact stuff. 300 points for the Infinity Spire, which keeps adding a level for each pass, 200 for the Library (or rather, the ability to unlock a library), and 100 for the Castle Renovation. And yes, the summer outfits are still available for Leo and Chime for 100 points each.

You can read the full press release after the break, including all the details on these fabulous items, which together cost the same price as Super Metroid. Ahem.

Final Fantasy IV: Then and Now

Published by Ryan
Tags: Final Fantasy IV, Nintendo DS, Square Enix

Wow, how times have changed! The above video shows a side-by-side comparison of the original Final Fantasy IV game and the newly upgraded Nintendo DS version. Even though the DS version has received a big graphical update, it doesn’t take long to notice that the voice acting and deeper cinematic shots make this title much more than a standard port.

It looks like our GBA versions have finally become obsolete. It’s about time we can remove our large Final Fantasy IV GBA carts from our DS systems. Now I will have to upgrade my Paladin all over again.
