Here’s one of the few looks we have at the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed in motion. Yep, it’s pretty much the same running and jumping and slashing around as in the 360/PS3 version of the game. Some things we do find out are that the two areas shown in the above trailer are (currently) called Apotos and Spagonia. Roll right off the tongue, don’t they?

Sadly, we were originally given this trailer (for the Wii version) upscaled to a 720 HD resolution. Horrible on the eyes. Thankfully, none of us should expect to see so many jaggies on our televisions come November. Hopefully.

Two Sega titles were made available this morning, filling out the service with a little more speed and gore.

• Sonic The Hedgehog (Master System, 500 Wii Points)
• Splatterhouse 2 (Genesis, 800 Wii Points)

I haven’t played through either of these, so you guys will have to let me know if I have been missing out on an instant classic. As usual, Nintendo’s descriptions after the break.

On top of the upcoming Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and Sonic Unleashed, Nintendo Power has revealed (or will be revealing, I should say) another Sonic game in the works, this time as a Wii exclusive. Sonic and the Black Knight is probably that sword-related game hinted at in the last issue. It’s only a leaked cover for now, but hopefully we’ll get some solid info on the game soon.

I wonder why they waited until now to reveal a new sword-based Sonic game. Perhaps they needed the Wii MotionPlus accessory to be revealed first… Anyway, check past the break for the full cover image, and click it for a larger version.

Sega has just announced its official E3 2008 line-up and, while it announces games we already knew existed and were hyped about — MadWorld, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Unleashed and Samba De Amigo to name a few — it’s always an amazing thing to have reassurance that they are being worked on and will be released in a timely fashion. SEGA has announced their sponsoring of the first-ever Sonic convention, “Summer of Sonic,” to be held on August 9th at the Covent Garden Dragon Hall Trust in Central London.

There will be a Games Center for those wishing to play video games with or against fellow convention-goers, an Artwork Corner to show off your fan art, Artist and Merchandise showcases, and contests for everyone to win prizes. In addition, SEGA of Europe will be providing playable stations featuring some of the latest Sonic games, including “one or two that aren’t necessarily released yet.”

There will also be a few “special guests” at the event (I hear Sonic the Hedgehog is one of them). As one of the biggest Sonic fans growing up, you can guess I’m bummed to not be able to afford a trip all the way out to London. For those of you who can go, you’ll need to pre-register at the site below. As thanks for the heads up, I expect some of you to send me some goodies from the convention.
