It has been almost a year since Brawl was released in North America, and it looks like Nintendo and Sakurai (creator of Smash Bros. and the iconic Kirby) have moved on to their next project. Details at this point are still pretty slim, but don’t expect an update to the popular fighting franchise. Sakurai said of the title:

I can promise an experience that’s different from anything [you've played] up until now.

The game is being handled by a new company, Project Sora, of which Nintendo has the majority stock in. Promising something unlike anything seen before makes some pretty big shoes to fill. Cross your fingers that Sakurai delivers like he has in the past.

Remember the good ol’ days, when Legos still looked like Legos instead of all this Bionicle stuff? These days, we get excited whenever we see people making things out of Legos. I’m pretty sure I did this on a near-daily basis as a kid.

It’s happening again. Brawl’s out in Europe, and some Wii systems can’t read the dual layered disc.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl [utilizes] a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has [specialized] cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.

Have no fear, because Nintendo of Europe will be offering the same free lens-cleaning service offered in Japan and North America… You just won’t have a Wii to play games on for a while, that’s all.

What’s this? A new Smash Bros. DOJO!! update? It is!

A new update was added to the official Super Smash Bros. Brawl site yesterday to celebrate the European launch of the game (finally). The third version of “Snapshots Galore” features 102 of the best fan-submitted snapshots, and you can check them out below. Be warned that there are plenty of spoilers!
