Galaxy 2′s storyline and Peach’s letter translated

Remember those Super Mario Galaxy 2 magazine scans? The ones that were in Japanese, barring most of us from being able to read them? Well, swerve from the NeoGAF forums has gone and translated two portions of the scan. The letter from Princess Peach reads as follows:

Dear Mario, Do you fancy watching the shooting stars, whilst eating cake? I’ll be waiting at the castle. –Peach

…while the story reads as:

“This is one more stardust fairytale. Only once in a hundred years does stardust fall on the Mushroom Kingdom. As such, Peach invites Mario to the castle to watch. On his way over, Mario spots a mysterious light. He cautiously approaches it, and finds… a small, lost baby star. The star – ‘Baby Chico’ – follows Mario to the castle, but what is waiting for them there is…”

Huh. I’d forgotten that up until now. If the stardust falls on the Mushroom Kingdom only once every hundred years, how exactly do both Galaxy and Galaxy 2 fall into Mario’s lifespan?

Wii: Sonic Unleashed may have nine levels after all

Few hours ago we reported that the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed may be gimped, having not only inferior graphics, but two fewer levels than the PS3 and 360 versions. Reader Ah2190 over at Camp Sonic submitted scans of the latest issue of gamesTM Magazine and while the article doesn’t completely refute the as-of-now-rumor, it does give us some reassurance that the Wii will see a full version of Sonic Unleashed.

As well as the action stages, Sonic Unleashed will also feature nine hub-world, themed around real geographical locations…

Camp Sonic does not make mention of which version of the game was played, nor does the magazine say which copy of the game the interviewer is citing, so, again, rumor bin for now. You can go enjoy the new magazine scans over at the gallery, which are available after the jump.

Pokemon goes Platinum on September 13th

…in Japan. CoroCoro magazine also confirmed some new details about Pokemon Platinum. The story is brand new, introducing a new character, bringing in Interpol, and allowing you to meet both Dialga and Palkia atop Spear Pillar. The new Battle Frontier (or Battle Island, or whatever it ends up being called) is now a part of the Battle Tower in the Fight Area, which will have new places to spend your Battle Points.

The Wi-Fi areas in each Pokemon Center basement now allow up to 20 players at a time, and sport a brand new Wi-Fi poffin-making minigame. The GTS in Jubilife has also been upgraded, now featuring a “Global Terminal.” You’ll also be getting a new item called a Battle Recorder, allowing you to record videos of your battles and share them with people online.

There are a few more details confirmed in the magazine, all regarding specifics about Giratina and Shaymin. You can read up on those and take a look at the newest screens after the break.

Giratina will only appear in his new “Origin Forme” when in the Torn/Ruined World, and will remain in his “Another Forme” everywhere else. When in its Origin Forme, Giratina’s ability is Levitate.
The Grass/Flying “Sky Forme” of Shaymin checks in at 0.4m tall (1 ft, 4 in) and 5.2 kg (11.5 lbs) heavy. Its ability is Serene Grace, with boosted speed and special attack stats.
In order to actually transform Shaymin into the new Sky Forme, it first needs to be obtained by Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl at the movie event going on now (or by D/P/P at any future Shaymin event) and traded to Platinum. The Flower of Glacidea, obtained in Floarama Town, must then be used on Shaymin.

Why is it that whenever companies center game logos on box art, the feel the need to include the “TM” as part of the logo’s width? It’s not noticeable at first glance, but the fact that the rest of the logo is a little bit “off” now is.

That’s the case with the box art for Wario Land: Shake It! You can view a larger version of the North American box art after the break. There are also a couple of magazine page scans as well, so be sure to check those out while clicking “Full Size” to see the larger versions. Visually, the game’s shaking up to be quite impressive visually, and you can get a peek at some of the game’s handdrawn cutscene artwork.
