While it may still be hard to track down a Wii in the states, that doesn’t mean it’s too soon to start talk of the next iteration of the console success story. Sources have pegged 2011 as the arrival of the next generation, and compare the jump to the difference between Game Boy and Game Boy Advance.

Miyamoto divulged at E3 that there is, in fact, work being done on a new console. Whether on not this report, and the name ”Wii HD”, has any validity has yet to be seen. If I had to name the console? Wii Wii. It’s a no brainer.

What They Play

The onslaught of redesign rumors has died down since E3 closed it’s doors without a reveal, until recently that is. This particular version sports, get this, two touch screens. That’s twice as much touching. Twice as much scratching, doodling, tapping, and scribbling as well. If I have to try and use two stylus (styli? Styluses? Styliuses?) my brain will explode.

It looks like that won’t be a concern, however, as Nintendo has already responded saying talk of a redesign is complete speculation. I don’t think this rumor is the real deal, but I still wouldn’t put a successor too far out of the picture. Especially with the way DS has performed in Japan lately.
