With yesterday’s revelation of the final two characters to join the cast of the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition‘s revamped Mercenaries mode Mercenaries Reunion, I had a feeling we’d be seeing press assets today for ‘em. And they’re here! Oh Capcom you lovable, predictable bastards you. Above and below you’ll find videos of Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers, as well as screenshots and character art in our updated Mercenaries Reunion gallery.

For those of you downloading each chapter (Desperate Escape and Lost In Nightmares) instead of purchasing the Gold Edition, the rundown goes as follows. The DLC chapter Lost In Nightmares will unlock Barry Burton and Excella Gione. Desperate Escape will unlock Rebecca Chambers and Josh Stone. Character Pack 1 unlocks Chris Redfield in his “Heavy Metal” outfit, and Sheva Alomar in her “Business” outfit. Character Pack 2 unlocks Chris Redfield and his “Warrior” outfit, and Sheva Alomar with her “Fairytale” outfit.

Final two Mercenaries Reunion characters revealed

From the latest issue of Famitsu comes revelation of the last two Resident Evil characters to join the Mercenaries Reunion cast. Rebecca Chambers, of Resident Evil Zero fame, and Barry Burton, who you’ll remember from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, are set to be part of the big Reunion in Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition‘s release come March 9.

You know what that means? A whole ‘nuther month left for gameplay videos and character art! With this new character reveal, I’d expect a little of both from Capcom soon.

After vanquishing the evil Viddler this morning (I kid you not, I tried all day yesterday to upload these stinking things) I can finally bring you the gameplay videos showcasing Resident Evil 5‘s newest playable characters, Josh and Excella. Watch the Mercenaries Reunion stars battle it out with guns, high kicks, and general acts of badassery in these two new clips.

Edit: Not sure why the bottom video is working but either 1. Viddler is being evil again or 2. They heard me calling them evil and are having their revenge. Check back soon!

New Resident Evil 5 info reveals new playable character, new moves

Today Capcom announced some new features for the upcoming Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, The chapter Mercenaries Reunion will now feature Excella Mione (the merciless Tercil CEO who both looks and dresses not unlike an actress on the red carpet) as a playable character, while Desperate Escape protagonists Josh and Jill have a new move to battle those bothersome Majini. Check out the new character and player moves in the screen captures in our RE: 5 Mercenaries Reunion and Desperate Escape galleries, respectively, below. Oh, and if I were a bettin’ woman, I’d say a trailer with the new character and Josh and Jill’s new move will be out soon, so stay tuned!

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition official website and trailer now live

With all the fantastic games coming out in March, Capcom wants to remind you about a certain release called Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. And so we have a new trailer and an official site launch!

The trailer showcases a bit of the bonus content contained in the Gold Edition, including the two new chapters “Desperate Escape” and “Lost In Nightmares“, as well as the new costumes for Chris and Shiva. You can also check out the just-launched official website, which has a detailed release calendar, screenshots of the new costumes, and more. For a taste of the XBOX 360 and PS3 covers, check out our updated Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition packshot gallery below.

“Desperate Escape” revealed as second DLC chapter for Resident Evil 5

Looks that leak from the UK ratings board was right on the money! As Tanooki readers already know, the upcoming second downloadable chapter for Resident Evil 5 will be entitled Desperate Escape. The new content features Jill Valentine and BSAA agent Josh Stone as they escape from the Tricell facility. A new outfit a piece for Sheva (Business) and Chris (Heavy Metal) will also be available at the time of the release.

Expect Desperate Escape and costume pack 2 on March 3rd for XBOX Live and March 4th for PS3. The Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, containing all the RE5 DLC, will arrive March 9th.

Above and below we have a video of each Chris and Sheva in their new outfits. I highly recommend at least watching Sheva in her new costume, ’cause its kinda cool seeing someone kick so much in formal business attire. Two new videos for Resident Evil 5: The Mercenaries Reunion today, one of Chris in his new warrior costume, and one of Sheva in her new folklore costume (something of a mix between Red Riding Hood and stripper). Watch them kick some ass in their frilly new digs. OK, Chris’ is more spiky that frilly but you get the point.

The Mercenaries Reunion comes with the Gold Edition March 9th. Check out some screencaps from this revamped mercenaries mode below.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition and DLC trailer

Fresh on the tail of some major Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition/Resident Evil 5 DLC news comes this trailer for “Lost In Nightmares”, the first bonus chapter in the upcoming batch of add-ons.

In other RE 5 DLC news, word has it that the UK ratings board has let the name of the next chapter slip. According to a recent document, the second chapter will be entitled “Desperate Escape”. As previously announced, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition is expected to debut March 9th, the DLC starting February.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition arriving March 9th

Capcom has announced that the U.S. release, which elsewhere is called Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition, will now be titled RE5: Gold Edition. This new edition will arrive in retail form, which will include a copy the game with all add-on content packed in for the PS3 version, and a download voucher for the content for Xbox version.

Don’t worry if you already own RE5 as you’ll be able to just download the new content. Planned for release are two new downloadable episodes, new costumes, and a new mode called “Mercenaries Reunion” which will feature 8 new playable characters, and weapon load outs. The downloadable episodes will be available in mid February.
