This Darkrai in Australia article comes 100% stereotype free from your friends at The Tanooki

Australian Pokémon fans, longing for their very own legitimate Darkrai, won’t have to long for much longer. The 491st Pokémon is on his way to Target stores across the country. Just bring your copy of Pokémon Diamond or Pearl, along with your DS, to any Australian Target store between October 30th and November 9th and select the “Mystery Gift” function. Aussie-Nintendo also claims that Toys ”?” Us stores will also be taking part in the Darkrai event, but they haven’t confirmed it yet.

This is so much more practical than findind someone on the internet with a cheat device. Really.

Shocking Pokemon auction found on Yahoo!

Published by Christian
Tags: Auctions, Pikachu, Pokemon

See this little guy? It’s real, according to some online seller from Japan. He auctioned off twenty of the Mouse Pokemon, promising to catch them one-by-one after the close of the auction to make sure they were 100% healthy. The closing price? ¥99,000,002,805,760. That’s nearly 918 billion US dollars.

Now, seeing as no single person on the planet has anywhere near $918 billion… that must mean a collective group of ignorant Pokemon enthusiasts forgot to notice that the popular Pikachu are very common in the newly popular land of Sinnoh. I wonder what the same group would pay for all the Exeggcute in my fridge.

“Gotta catch ‘em all” applies to Nintendo handhelds, too

Starting today (erm, yesterday now…), fanatics in North America can pick a special, new, Pokemon-themed Onyx DS Lite. No, it doesn’t have the Pokemon, Onyx, on it. It’s that Dialga and Palkia one Pete showed you a while back.

It’s not a GameStop exclusive, so anywhere you find it, you’ll be able to get a Dialga and Palkia carrying case, collectible mini-poster, and the never-before-released Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness animated special on DVD as part of the $129.99 bundle. If you don’t mind Pokemon on your DS, that’s a steal of a bundle right there.

Of course, you’re probably also waiting for the DS Lite with Giratina on it. All the cool kids are.

Limited edition Pokémon DS is headed to the States

Published by Pete
Tags: DS, limited edition, Pokemon

Sure, DS is region free and you could have imported one from Japan awhile back, but soon you have the option of picking one up just down the street. Which is a much easier (although not nearly as trendy) option.

The black DS comes, as you can see, with the images of the legendary Pokémon Palkia and Dialga across the top. The advertisement from GameStop that spilled the beans also revealed that the unit will come with a matching case, a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DVD, a poster, and GameStop exclusive shirt. Good deal eh? Maybe… they could have just bundled Diamond or Pearl with it?

Pokemon Ranch: Gotta fold ‘em all!

Published by Christian
Tags: papercraft, Pokemon, Pokemon Ranch, WiiWare

Bust out that glue stick and those safety scissors! The official Pokemon website has posted up photos and instructions on how to create your own Pokemon Ranch papercraft models of the Diamond and Pearl starters… plus Pikachu. Can’t be too hard, seeing as the Pokemon Ranch 3D models are so polygonal and chibi-deformed, right?

It’s all colors and marked up for you. All you need to do is cut and glue, and you’re all set. It’s like first grade all over again! (Unless, of course, you ARE in first grade… in which case… lucky you.)

Or is it? (careful, there’s a bit of swearing in this video) With E3 already underway, we’re going to be getting a massive amount gamer-friendly news over the next week, so to help fans stay in touch and persevere, we need a little humor every once in a while to tide us over. You remember the “Who’s that Pokemon” game? I’m pretty sure anyone who’s played Pokemon or watched the TV series itself for long enough pretty much aced it every time. Not this kid.

Pokemon goes Platinum on September 13th

…in Japan. CoroCoro magazine also confirmed some new details about Pokemon Platinum. The story is brand new, introducing a new character, bringing in Interpol, and allowing you to meet both Dialga and Palkia atop Spear Pillar. The new Battle Frontier (or Battle Island, or whatever it ends up being called) is now a part of the Battle Tower in the Fight Area, which will have new places to spend your Battle Points.

The Wi-Fi areas in each Pokemon Center basement now allow up to 20 players at a time, and sport a brand new Wi-Fi poffin-making minigame. The GTS in Jubilife has also been upgraded, now featuring a “Global Terminal.” You’ll also be getting a new item called a Battle Recorder, allowing you to record videos of your battles and share them with people online.

There are a few more details confirmed in the magazine, all regarding specifics about Giratina and Shaymin. You can read up on those and take a look at the newest screens after the break.

Catch ‘em all with your BK Kids Meal

Published by Christian
Tags: Burger King, Novelty, Pokemon, Toys

They’re still making Pokemon: TCG cards, and they’re still selling them by the truckload. For those of you still into collecting those cards, Burger King is giving away one card (out of a dozen) AND one Pokemon toy with each Kids Meal. I going to have to head on over to BK myself - that Mantyke plushie is as good as mine.

Bubbles and Pokemon invade PAL WiiWare

Published by Christian
Tags: Nintendo, Nnooo, Pokemon, Pop, WiiWare

I used this image a few weeks ago on a story about Nnooo’s Pokemon MMO pitch. Surprisingly, it’s quite appropriate to use it for yesterday’s WiiWare update in the PAL regions. Nnooo’s WiiWare game, Pop, and Nintendo’s My Pokemon Ranch, are now available in Europe and Australia. Of the two, you’re probably much better off with Pop, but who knows…maybe you have some kids that will beg for you to buy them Ranch. If that’s the case, you have my sympathies.
