My Pokémon Ranch (and maybe yours too, eventually) getting update in Japan

Published by Rhody
Tags: My Pokémon Ranch, Pokemon, Pokemon Platinum

Japan is getting an update for My Pokémon Ranch next month. It will add a few expected things, such as compatibility with Pokémon Platinum and the new Pokémon therein. For players without Pokémon Platinum, there’s at least one reason to upgrade anyway. The update will bump the maximum number of stored Pokémon from 1000 to a cool 1500. Protip: You will never have a use for 1500 Pokémon.

There’s no plan for a North American release yet, but I’d bet my metaphorical hat that America will see the update when Platinum launches.

Pokemon Platinum sales near one million, in two days

Published by Pete
Tags: Nintendo DS, Pokemon Platinum, Sales Figures

Since the game was available to Japanese gamers mere days ago, the title has moved 967,675 units. Even though Platinum is the third iteration of the current version of the series (along with Diamond and Pearl), the sales didn’t seem to suffer.

Total numbers will obviously cross the million mark soon, and move Platinum into the company of all the other top selling Pokémon games.

Is anyone else going to pick this one up after the American release?

Shaky off-screen trailer for Pokemon Platinum

Published by Christian

Japan’s “Pokemon Sunday” event saw the world premiere (I think) of Pokemon Platinum in trailer video form, including footage of the 3D environments of the Ruined/Torn World and 3D renders of Giratina in its Origin Forme. You’ll also catch a glimpse of the new Global Trade Station, Lucas using a flashlight in the Underground, and a look at the new Battle Recorder.

Pokemon in 3D? Amazing. Now if only Diamond and Pearl had included the feature over a year ago…

…in Japan. CoroCoro magazine also confirmed some new details about Pokemon Platinum. The story is brand new, introducing a new character, bringing in Interpol, and allowing you to meet both Dialga and Palkia atop Spear Pillar. The new Battle Frontier (or Battle Island, or whatever it ends up being called) is now a part of the Battle Tower in the Fight Area, which will have new places to spend your Battle Points.

The Wi-Fi areas in each Pokemon Center basement now allow up to 20 players at a time, and sport a brand new Wi-Fi poffin-making minigame. The GTS in Jubilife has also been upgraded, now featuring a “Global Terminal.” You’ll also be getting a new item called a Battle Recorder, allowing you to record videos of your battles and share them with people online.

There are a few more details confirmed in the magazine, all regarding specifics about Giratina and Shaymin. You can read up on those and take a look at the newest screens after the break.
