With a new Zelda for Wii on the horizon, there’s no better time than now to show your devotion for all things Link. On geek creation site Etsy, you can purchase an ocarina replica necklace made out of sculpey.

This shiny blue instrument has perfectly crafted finger and mouth holes, topped off with a golden Triforce.

Available for $8.50, the necklace comes in both female (thinner) and male (thicker) necklace chains. Magical abilities including time travel, teleportation and horse summoning not included.

I’m sorry. I normally spare you all from the mass of bad covers of video game music out there, simply because I don’t like having to rip on musicians (since I am one), you don’t like hearing them, and it’s not worth posting. However, in this case, a couple of gamers from Norway managed to get on TV with it.

On the show Norway’s Got Talent (yeah, just like the versions in other nations including our own), Richard and Andreas decided to perform their rendition of “Epona’s Song” from Ocarina of Time. Their instruments weren’t in tune with each other, with themselves, Richard needs to learn about phrasing and articulation, and I think Andreas only knows the chords to the intro vamp and not the song itself. I was wincing long before the first judge buzzed them out, and I’m baffled that they even made the cut to be aired.

At one point, they make the comment that they didn’t want to disclose how many hours of games they play a week to avoid looking like a nerd. Amen to the judge that suggested they just stick to playing games instead.

Link gets new instrument in Spirit Tracks

The Official Nintendo Magazine has revealed that Link will continue his musically inclined nature when the game releases December 7th. In his latest adventure, Link will be able to play the Spirit Pipes. The pipes are played by utilizing the DS’ built-in microphone.

According to ONM, the guardians of each land will teach you a song that will restore the tracks to the temple. Once you play the song correctly, you’ll be able to take on the temple.

It is interesting to see a musical theme continue within the Zelda games. Are you glad Link’s getting a new instrument or would you prefer a return to the Ocarina?
