Right now on Amazon, you can pick up a copy of Ninja Theory’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West for just $25 on either Xbox 36o or PlayStation 3. If you haven’t checked out the action platformer, the title follows the enslaved Monkey, who must follow the orders of Trip until he returns her safely back to her home. I think the game’s pretty great, with rewarding action sequences and original (and likable) characters, and given the low price point, it’s a hard deal to pass up.

The game’s usual list price is only at $39.99, which doesn’t look great sales wise for a game that came out one month ago. Do yourself, and Ninja Theory a favor and cough up the 25 bucks, would ya?

After 30 years of eating every pac-dot and blue-turned ghost in sight, I think it’s time Pac-Man deserved an icing-filled taste of his own medicine.

I made these gems for a class project, but based on the warm reception I received, exclamations like “adorable!” and “delicious!” to name a few, I decided they were worth sharing. Visually, at least.

I assure you, Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde never tasted this good.

New this week on the non-party game and basketball front is Ninja Theory’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. If you’re looking for an action-packed original IP mixing Nathan Drake’s jump and swing platforming with the backdrop of a futuristic post-apocalyptic Earth, this is the game for you.

The new launch trailer above takes you through a bit of the game’s story, which follows Monkey as your lovable spikey haired protagonist. That impressive piece of headgear he’s wearing was placed on him by Trip, who enslaved Monkey so he’s forced to protect her while trying to return her back home safely. The mechanics of the headband are simple; Trip dies, Monkey dies. Sounds like enough incentive to me.

Monkey also gets to bust out this crazy awesome American Gladitors-like baton to destroy his robotic enemies, which is pretty rewarding. If the trailer doesn’t sway you, you can also try out the demo currently up and running for free on Xbox Live and PSN.

The next video game daring the risky transition into a league of unsuccessful feature films is coming next year. Let’s keep our fingers crossed this one can break the bombing trend.

Namco’s successful fighting property Tekken will become a motion picture, thanks to Anchor Bay Films. The company acquired the rights to distribute the movie, which has already been filmed, formerly a Crystal Sky Pictures property.

“The Tekken video game franchise has sold millions of copies over the past decade,” commented Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment. “Crystal Sky has invested millions in the production, making sure they were able to convey not only the incredible fight scenes, but also the emotional journey of the main character, Jin.”

Namco has a busy 2011 planned, with both Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter tentatively slated for 2011 console release, and now Tekken the film already in the can, coming next year as well. As long as I get to see Yoshimitsu, Nina Williams, and Bob’s tremendous thighs, then I’ll be happy. What would you folks like to see in Tekken‘s big screen debut?

The popularity of stop-motion videos has flourished in recent years thanks to YouTube showcasing user generated content. A French-Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond is the newest self-proclaimed filmmaker to gain notoriety, having created his own stop-motion flick simulating a game of Pac-Man, using 111 human beings in an auditorium.

Wearing different colored shirts, each person symbolizes a particular aspect of the original game’s pixels, from blue standing for the course barriers, to yellow being Pac-Man himself.

While I admire the ability to get over 100 people to change seats continuously during the entire four hour film session, the voice over work is annoying as all hell. You may want to turn down your speakers to avoid inadvertently punching yourself in the head. Mine is still bleeding.

Although you never really know what games are in development, I’m labeling this as a near impossibility. But only because I desperately want it to happen! According to a “reliable source,” website The Kartel is reporting that Namco and Capcom are teaming up to release Tekken vs. Street Fighter.

The game could be announced as early as E3 2010, says the source.

UPDATED: It’s true. Namco and Capcom are teaming up to release Tekken X Street Fighter, and Street Fighter X Tekken. Each game will feature a different look, with the Tekken version more within the franchise’s notorious 3D space and Street Fighter’s more within 2.5D space. Very exciting.

It was thirty years ago this month that Pac-Man first released in Japan, and later abroad. The game introduced players to one of the world’s most addictive arcade games of all time. To celebrate the success of the franchise, the game’s creator Toru Iwatani (pictured right) gave some insight into the creative process of creating one of the world’s more notorious gaming icons. Here are some of highlights.

• Pac-Man was introduced to the world as one of the first “cute” video game characters. The arcades were mainly filled with shooters and more aggressive action oriented titles, so Iwatani set out to create a game that could be universally enjoyed by girls and boys.

• The Pac-Man cartoon was highly successful, at one point with a rating at 56%.

• While Pac-Man was designed to resemble a pizza, his yellow color was to give him a neutral look, that would suit a friend or foe.

• Pac-Man got his name from the eating sound “Paku” which means “chomp.” Initially titled “Puck-Man” the game eventually dropped “Puck” for “Pac” in the U.S., and eventually to Japan, due to its similarities to the F-word.

• The game is more friendly than many think, where the premise is described as a battle of Pac-Man’s cookies. It’s similar to Tom and Jerry, where they aren’t enemies, just competitive.

Despite not coming to Europe until later this summer, and possibly not at all to North America, Namco’s Tales of Graces will see some new downloadable content come mid-week.

For only 400 Wii Points, users will be able to download the Moyuru Musha costume for Malik. The costume, designed by series character designer Mutsumi Inomata, resembles a samurai warrior. The new costume will be available at 1pm on March 31st, but in the meantime you can check out screens of it below!

Did you know its nearly Pac-Man’s 30th birthday? Our little yellow dot man is all growed up (*sob*). You know what this means. That’s right, he gets big boy toys now. Like this limited edition commemorative Pac-Man themed Zippo from BanPresto. At about $93 its also a big boy price but given the craftmanship it looks like its worth every penny.

Or at least, that’s what I’ll be telling myself when I murmur “wocka wocka wocka” with every flick of the flame. Also available in Dig Dug, Galaxia, and Xevious.

Some exciting news for die-hard Dragonball fans. Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo is coming to exclusively to the Wii! Its a little rare for Dragon Ball (and not Dragon Ball Z or GT) to get its own game, and this one is delightfully canon, featuring the adventures of Goku as he battles the Red Ribbon Army and ultimately rumbles with King Piccolo during his search for the elusive Dragon Balls.

Namco is going heavy on the nostalgia factor, using cut scenes from the original anime, and letting players battle it out in World Tournament mode. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk are fully utilized but the Classic Controller and GameCube controller are also an option. A lock-on system allows you to target and attack enemies (very 1998 LOZ, no?) and an in-game shop lets you buy items to aid you in your quest.

The screen shot above looks pretty good, too. I think they got the gleam off Krillin’s bald dome just perfect.

This is one of those times it sucks to be a gamer in North America. The odds of this amazing game leaving Japan are slim. In Muscle March, a football player has stolen a gym’s supply of protein powder, and it’s up to a parade of body builders to get it back. As the thief flexes and poses while smashing through everything in his path, he leaves holes in the shape of whatever pose he happened to be doing at the time. The beef parade then has to match the pose in order to fit through the wall. Just watch the trailer, and prepare for the best two minutes of your life. Muscle March is due out in Japan on May 26th.

Remember when Namco released a PS2 version of Tales of Symphonia in Japan and not in North America? If you were a big fan of the GameCube version, you may have been a little miffed that you didn’t have access to all of those tasty new special moves and titles and costumes and stuff. (I know I was.)

Well, it looks like the tables have turned, Japan! The North American version of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will include a few special features that are unique to the North American (and presumably European, if it ever gets a release date) version of the game. For instance, the Japanese version allowed players to map four different motion-activated special moves. The North American version allows up to eight. Also, you can use your clear data from the original Tales of Symphonia to unlock new features when starting a new game of the sequel, such as items and money.

Finally, a use for my 250+ hour save file! (I’m not even kidding.)
