Miyamoto cracks another top 100 list

And this time it comes from an unexpected source, Vanity Fair. The Nintendo great drops in at number 73, putting him on the list for the first time. The award is meant to go to:

a global, movable band of thinkers, owners, creators, and buyers who are the tastemakers, trendsetters, opinion formers and agenda creators in the worlds of politics, entertainment, media, business, technology, and fashion.

It goes without saying that the success of Miyamoto’s clothing line sealed his spot. It’s nice to see a little love sent out to video game creators. Now that I think about it, I have no idea what Vanity Fair is about. Anyone know?

Miyamoto confirms Pikmin 3

At the Nintendo Developer Roundtable, Shigeru Miyamoto himself has officially put Pikmin 3 on the map. Sure, there is still no info regarding where on the map, or even which map it’s on, but it’s nice to know that it is being made. Earlier, when asked about the game, he said:

When it’s time to announce such a title, I’ll announce it.

Soon after that he did, plain and simply:

We’re making Pikmin.

I’m going to hold of on getting excited until some gameplay surfaces. Or at least a fact sheet. Oh who am I kidding, Pikmin FTW!

From Donkey Kong to Wii Fit: Miyamoto speaks!

An entire 90-minute interview with Shigeru Miyamoto has popped up online. It looks as though it’s the whole interview that we’ve seen bits and pieces of in the past…or maybe it’s just a lot of the same questions. You can head on over if you want to hear Shiggy’s thoughts on Wii Fit, WiiWare, Donkey Kong, the Wii Remote, graphics improvement, and more. Here’s just a little preview:

Clive Thompson: A friend of mine is the editor of Sterling Publishing, which is one of the largest children’s book publishers here, and she’s terrified by the success of Professor Layton and Hotel Dusk, because she thinks this is the future of books and she’s not sure how the industry will adapt to it.

Shigeru Miyamoto: Yeah, as I was saying with the interface of the home console where you have the monitor, the computer processor, and then the connection to the player, I think that there is certainly possibility for a lot of different mediums that people have experienced in the past to be reawakened or given new life by being brought over to a home console and giving an interactive flavor to it.

There’s also a little blurb on Wii Music, so head on over and check it out.
