There may not be a LEGO Prince of Persia video game, yet, but the Prince of Persia video game series is getting its own LEGO set. The set is being launched in conjunction with the new film release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

The Disney flick stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Prince Dastan, and is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, of Pirates fame. There’s also a rumor going around that this game turned film may actually not suck. Finally!

You can pick your new LEGO toy set at toy stores everywhere.

Its almost time for the wee yellow men to invade our TV screens! The newest title in LEGO land debuts November 3rd and to remind us all, the official LEGO Rock Band launch trailer has hit the web. Watch the minifigs perform “Grace” by Supergrass, one of the 45 songs featured in the game.

As I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of music simulation games, but given the fun and kitsch nature of this title, I’m ready to give it a whirl. The only question is, with its wide availability on XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, AND Nintendo DS (all of which I own), which version should I buy?

As Tanooki’s self-proclaimed biggest Mega Man fan (I’m actually wearing my I Beat The 8 Robots T as I type this) it is my responsibility, nay, my duty, to post this recreation of Mega Man 9‘s Concrete Man stage, done entirely in Legos. While the original artist, Marco Bessa of Brazil, has never played Mega Man, its the type of series that is recognized for the god that it is nonetheless. Well done, Marco! Now go download Mega Man 9 for Wii!

Using a 3D scanner and a hundred bajillion Legos to make a massive statue is all fine and dandy, but it takes a real Lego artisan to pull off something like this so well. Flickr member and Lego master Arkov has created this teeny tiny NES out of Lego blocks and its resemblance to an actual NES is pretty impressive. It has A and B buttons, controller ports, a cartridge slot that actually opens, and even tiny little ports in the back for a tiny little power sully and RF switch. (Neither of which actually exist, but that would be even more awesome.) Check out Arkov’s Flickr feed for more detailed pictures.

Note that the title of the post refers to Sands of Time Lego and not Lego Sands of Time. These are actual, tangible, honest-to-goodness Lego sets based on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Of course, they’re based on the Sands of Time movie and not the game, so Farrah will be named Tamina (for no reason whatsoever) and the Vizier will be replaced with a random evil nobleman.

You can most likely expect to see the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Lego sets around the time the film releases, which is in May 2010. (Note that the above picture is a fan work and not an official Lego figure.)

When I was a kid I loved two things: My NES and Lego’s. Well what do we have here — a Nintendo case made entirely of Lego’s?! After going through various stages of development, Project Red is finally complete and is fully equipped with everything the original NES had. In the video above you can see it in action, playing a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3. I just wish he had chosen a better track for the video.

Whoever decided that there are seven wonders of the world, has obviously not seen this Mario statue fashioned from Legos. I’m convinced that this is the only ancient wonder. Dare I say, the Oneder? I guess it isn’t ancient, seeing how the creator used a 3D scanner, but awesome none the less. A full run down of the process and love that went into the piece (pieces?) after the break.

Step 1: Find a Mario you like.

2: Find a fancy three dimensional scanner, and put it to work!

Step 3: Translate the 3D transcript to Lego, and start from the bottom.

Step 4: Marvel its glory.

Step 5: More marveling. Include others.

My, my… the things people create just to avoid having to do “real” work. Flickr user adam16bit managed to come up with the idea, search through all his LEGOs to see if he had all the necessary pieces, and create this LEGO version of Simon Belmont (from Simon’s sprite in Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest on the NES) during one of those moments. I wish I had that sort of free time.

Remember the good ol’ days, when Legos still looked like Legos instead of all this Bionicle stuff? These days, we get excited whenever we see people making things out of Legos. I’m pretty sure I did this on a near-daily basis as a kid.

The Lego Guy on Flickr was inspired by Graznador2′s Lego Smash Bros. creations and made the R.O.B. and NES you see above. You can also see his version of a Smash Bros. scene, Mario on a go-kart, and a Super Nintendo after the break.
