Unlock exclusive upgrades for Beyblade: Metal Fusion

The latest trailer has arrived for high-action Beyblade: Metal Fushion, for the Nintendo DS. Once players “let it rip,” their custom Beyblade discs will spin and attack their opponent’s disc until certain victory is declared.

On November 21, Hudson will offer Beybladers a special opportunity to unlock upgrades exclusively on Amazon.com that will give you a boost over the competition. To unlock, you’ll need to get one of the five special passwords that will be included on the Amazon page, linked below. Hudson warns that players will need to have cleared the game with one of the characters prior to unlocking.

Hudson readying limited edition Beyblade: Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress

On November 9, Beyblade fans will have reason to celebrate when Hudson releases a special limited edition of Beyblade: Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress for Wii. The special collector’s pack includes content from the animated series, with a DVD with the episode titled “Merci’s Dangerous Trap” from the first season of the show.

The Wii title follows Gingka and all your favorite characters from the Cartoon Network show Beyblade: Metal Fusion, which debuted this past June. Take part in Battle Modes, single player or multiplayer challenges. All versions of the game allow players to upload custom Beyblade onto their Wii Remote to travel battle at their friends’ houses.

Act quickly, as these limited units will only be on store shelves until January 10.

Kyoya eventually makes it to the top of Wolf Canyon – and is ready to battle Gingka.

MotionPlus supported Deca Sports 3 now available

The list of titles supporting the Wii MotionPlus add-on is embarrassingly low. But with the install base of the 1:1 attachment, not to mention Wii Remote Plus — Nintendo’s new controller standard starting next week which includes MotionPlus built into the controller – we’re bound to benefit from an influx of precise motion control fun.

In steps Hudson with their newest mini-game sports collection Deca Sports 3. The first in the franchise to support MotionPlus, the game offers simplistic controls for the entire family to enjoy. You’ll also have team customization at your disposal. Using the Team Editor, players can choose the name, colors, attributes and emblem for their teams (pictures included below).

The game boasts 10 unique events, including log cutting, springboard diving, halfpipe and giant slalom. Four of the game’s modes are playable online using the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection: volleyball, lacrosse, fencing and racquetball.

Behind-the-scenes video sheds light on Lost in Shadow

Hudson is gearing up for the January 4th release of their newest original platformer, Lost in Shadow. The game takes place in a shadowy factory world where a nameless shadowed boy advances through the darkened part of a large, obstacle-filled maze. The game is easiest one of the most innovative titles on the Wii console to date.

A new behind-the-scenes trailer for the adventure game features Shadow’s director Tsuchihashi, design chief Echigo, program chief Nakaoka and sound designer Bando, all in shadow-form talking about the title in a segment called “Mysteries of the Shadow World.” The video gives great insight about the development process of creating the Shadow Boy, and his surrounding world.

Mario Party 9 not in development,… yet

Today’s launch of Wii Party seemed to solidify Nintendo’s transition from releasing annual party games starring Mario and friends, opting to strengthen the brand of user-created Mii characters with their own party game. Previously, Hudson developed new Mario Party titles annually, but the most recent console and portable editions launched in 2007.

Nowadays, Hudson is busy releasing their own party game, the new Oops! Prank Party. But in a new interview with Siliconera, the company shed some light on the possibility of returning to the Mario party game mix.

We’ll start creating it when we have become certain that we can blow everyone’s minds with a new “surprise”!

This confirms that the company is not currently working on a Mario Party title, while also confirming they indeed plan on returning to the successful franchise. Maybe we’ll hear an announcement in the coming months, say, a new version on the 3DS or Wii 2?

Spike, shred and ski with new Deca Sports Freedom trailer

Hudson is gearing up to launch their first Kinect-based body motion controlled sports simulator with Deca Sports Freedom. In line with previous Deca Sports titles, Freedom offers a variety of 10 different sport activities, set to have you flailing about your living room. Just make sure you close the windows so peeping neighbors don’t think you’re swatting invisible bees.

The latest trailer for Freedom features a brief glimpse of a few sports, including Beach Volleyball, Snowboard Cross and Figure Skating. Tanooki Features Editor Pete and I were pretty impressed by what Deca Sports Freedom had to offer when we experienced a full body workout in both the Paintball and Tennis games.

Hudson Gate added to PS3′s virtual hub PlayStation Home

Today brings another enticing reason for visiting Sony’s experimental hub world PlayStation Home. Hudson Entertainment is bringing their new “Hudson Gate” to PS Home, starting today.

A convenient world map greets you as you make your way inside the large promotional world. As you walk around, you’ll find large flat screens showing off game trailers, marketplace sections to purchase games and exclusive in-game content, and download a bunch of Hudson themed clothing and furniture for your avatar. You can also raise your own virtual pet, including a blue Dolphy, one of the Hudson Gate inhabitants.

Deca Sports 3 coming to Wii this fall

Hudson has two Deca Sports releases planned for this fall. While Deca Sports Freedom provides Xbox 360 owners with a Kinect-supported experience, Deca Sports 3 returns the motion controlled fun to Wii consoles.

The game will introduce 10 mini-games to take part in; Air Race, Lacrosse, Slalom Skiing, Indoor Volleyball, Racquetball, Springboard Diving, Logging, Fencing, Halfpipe Snowboarding and Kayaking.

Many of the games will even support online Wi-Fi multiplayer. Check out the game’s trailer above, in preparation of the title’s fall ship date.

Adidas teams up with Kinect’s Deca Sports Freedom

Hudson is gearing up to launch a new installment of their popular mini-game collection on Microsoft’s Xbox 360, with the help of the new Kinect motion sensing peripheral. Deca Sports Freedom features 10 sweat inducing sports and games for you to get off the couch and experience right in your living room. Between games like tennis, dodge ball and boxing, you’re going to break a sweat. Either that or break a hip.

So what better idea than to have Adidas sporting gear help you out? Hudson is teaming up with the clothing company with one mission; throwing out your drab 80s workout gear and upgrading it into some fly Adidas brand gear to wear in the game. If your performance in Freedom is impressive however, you’ll be able to unlock the ability to dress your Xbox Avatar in the same gear to wear all around your dashboard and beyond.

If there’s one game from E3 that I would love a second play-through with, it would be Freedom. I’m very curious to see how all the controller-less games play, aside from the two I got to test out.

Hudson’s Lost in Shadow to surface in January 2011

One of the boldest new third party Wii games to be shown at E3 was undoubtedly Lost in Shadow. Now, Hudson has revealed that the title will be available on January 4th, 2011.

Shadow takes platforming to a new level, as the game follows a shadow boy who progresses by jumping onto the shadow portions of each level, instead of the actual structural objects you see. It takes some getting used to, as your natural inclination is to jump on,…well, anything that’s not a shadow. It’s clever, and actually quite fun.

E3 2010: Deca Sports Freedom body-on impressions

During a Hudson booth tour, I was able to check out a few upcoming games such as Bonk: Brink of Extinction, Bomberman Live: Battlefest and the WiiWare title Lost in Shadow. I didn’t realize however, that I’d be jumping into my first Kinect experience with Hudson’s Deca Sports Freedom. The Xbox 360 version of the popular Deca Sports series makes use of the no-controller body sensing Kinect device. Everything from menu selection to gameplaying is all done with your body.

The Tanooki’s Features Editor Pete Betcher and myself were up to the challenge, and took part in two of the game’s ten sport offerings. First, a friendly game of tennis. The tennis game was actually a lot of fun. Toss your arm up and swing to serve, shift your body from side to side and swing your arm just like it’s your racket. Controls are as obvious as they seem, and a workout for sure.

The biggest complaint for the game wasn’t a Kinect issue, but rather a visual challenge. The player’s avatar that is positioned closest to the camera is constantly in the way (as pictured to the right). At times, it’s impossible to see where the ball is because your player is blocking it. Instead of just displaying a floating racket, or choosing to add some opacity to my avatar, I was stuck constantly having to guess where the ball was. The issue was so discouraging, it actually put a halt to the fun and we requested a different game after a few serves. I actually don’t remember who won, but since Pete’s not here right now, we’ll say I did.

Next up was Paintball. To play, you stick your arm out straight in front of you as your gun, just like you did as a kid. To shoot, quickly pull your arm up, then returning it back to gun position. To move around, you actually walk around your designated floor space, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. As you move towards the front of your floor space (shown on-screen) your player will move forward. Side to side movements are translated by moving left and right in your floor space. And walk backwards to stop yourself from advancing forward. This is the kind of game where you really will need a good amount of space to play at home, and may not be practical for those with small one-bedroom apartments.

Paintball was pretty fun, and very competitive. Each player is designated to a different colored team. You’ll run around shooting anyone on that team, including your actual player opponent. There are no visual cues as to which player is your real-life opponent, something that seemed kind of odd, considering I naturally wanted to shoot Pete more than the other avatars. You can sort of figure that out however by looking at their side of the splitscreen. The ultimate goal is to have the most hits on the opposing team at the end of the game.

While the actual moving around part takes some getting used to, it’s a lot of fun to run and shoot people with paintballs, although honestly, I just kind of wanted to grab a controller for the moving around part. It felt like the kind of Kinect mini-game that takes practice to get used to the movement controls, but it’s a blast nonetheless. And just like tennis, I dominated.

After our play session, I’m convinced that Kinect technology does work, and that Hudson’s mini-game collection is a great way to show it off. I’m still not convinced of the practicality of playing a lot of these Kinect games unless you have tons of friends who love getting together to play. I’m not sure I could really see myself playing these games alone. Regardless, Deca Sports Freedom seems to be a great option for family and friends to gather around, and enjoy a bunch of motion based mini-games, while looking as ridiculous as humanly possible.

Hudson’s E3 lineup features Bomberman, Deca Sports 3

Hudson Entertainment is returning to E3 with a lineup of titles set to please fans of all ages. The company is bringing the third installment in the Deca Sports series. Deca Sports 3 features a lineup of new mini games which includes Lacrosse, Air Race and Slalom Skiing. The game even features Wii MotionPlus support in the new Master mode.

Other notable titles include Bomberman Live: Battlefest for XBLA, Bonk: Brink of Extinction for XBLA, Lost In Shadow and Oops! Prank Party for Wii and BEYBLADE: Metal Fusion for both the DS and Wii. Hudson is also teasing a new unannounced title. Here’s hoping for another Adventure Island sequel!

Diner Dash rushing to WiiWare this month

The popular PC game Diner Dash is finally heading to Wii, courtesy of Hudson. The game features waitress Flo in her adventures of taking orders, delivering food and busing tables as quickly as possible. The game also features a 1 on 1 multiplayer mode, and Team Dash mode which supports up to seven players across four diners. Previously, the game has been released on Xbox and PlayStation as well.

“Diner Dash has been serving heaps of fun for years and Wii owners will soon get their first taste of the action,” said Sabine Duvall, vice president of product development at Hudson Entertainment. “New controls designed especially for the Wii and a new multiplayer mode will keep gamers coming back for second helpings.”

Diner Dash will release on WiiWare on March 29th in North and South America.

Hudson’s Sports Island gearing up for DS release

Konami is bringing Hudson Soft’s mini-game compilation series Sports Island to the Nintendo DS this May. The game will feature 10 high action events to take part in. Utilizing the DS touch screen or button configuration, gamers will be able to immerse themselves in Rugby, Table Tennis, Sepak Takraw (basically kick Volleyball), Arm Wrestling, Bobsled, Climbing, Sky-Diving, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Golf and Cheerleading.

Hudson has “worked tirelessly” to implement a flawless control scheme for each event, according to the press release. You can also edit your in game avatar to bring yourself into the game. Take a look at the photo gallery below to gear up for this spring’s sports spectacular.

Bomberman Blitz released today for DSiWare

Hudson has announced today the first ever Bomberman title for DSiWare, Bomberman Blitz. The game prides itself on being an epic multiplayer battle title. Combining the classic Bomberman gameplay with local multiplayer and online multiplayer with up to 8 players, the game promises to contend as one of the best for fans of the franchise.

The game will feature 10 unique locations and will include all previous fan favorite power ups. Also included is an in depth training mode for those new to the franchise.

Bomberman Blitz is now available starting today in North America and South America. Check out some game screenshots below.
