Jimi Hendrix DLC missing from Wii version of Guitar Hero: World Tour

Published by Rhody

A DLC pack of Jimi Hendrix songs, including “If 6 Was 9,” “Little Wing,” and a live version of “Fire” has been announced for the PS3 and 360 versions of Guitar Hero: World Tour, but not the Wii version. When reached for comment, an Activision representative had this to say:

Due to technical or licensing restrictions, the DLC offerings will not be the same for every console platform. For example, certain artists prefer to keep the integrity of the track pack rather than releasing singles and the Wii’s infrastructure only allows us the ability to release single songs as DLC.

We are very excited to be the first third-party publisher to bring a library of playable DLC songs to the Nintendo Wii platform. Vicarious Visions has pioneered with Nintendo a seamless way to download, store and access songs via SD Card. The development team is committed to offering Wii fans worldwide as much variety of DLC as possible on a regular basis.

So why is the Wii only capable of having single songs as DLC? And why would Jimi Hendrix care if his songs are distributed one at a time or separately? He has been very dead for a very long time. It’s kind of a pain when the answer to a question just makes things more confusing.

Classic Nintendo tunes removed from Guitar Hero

Published by Pete
Tags: GH Tunes, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Everyone knew that copyright issues would be a problem with the song creation tool in Guitar Hero: World Tour. So it should come as no surprise that two of the most popular songs for download, based on the Mario and Zelda franchises, have been removed from the service.

Luckily, for anyone who has already snatched up the tunes, they are safe and sound on your console. Any newcomers, however, can ease their woes with other classic video game tunage from Metroid, Sonic, and Final Fantasy among others. That is, at least while you can.

Guitar Hero rocks faces, tops charts

Published by Rhody
Tags: Activision, Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Decades, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Guitar Hero: World Tour, NDP

According to Activision themselves, the Guitar Hero franchise dominated the NDP sales charts for the first 9 months of 2008. Activision attributes this success (at least in Q2) to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: On Tour. Considering Guitar Hero: World Tour came out recently and Guitar Hero: Decades is still yet to come before the end of the year, you can expect to look back at 2008 as the year Guitar Hero ruled the world. Or at least the first year.

Rock Band 2 may be out by Christmas, definitely by New Years

The release window for Rock Band 2 has gotten narrower. Don’t get your hopes too high about finding a giant box of toy instruments under your tree this year, however. (Unless it’s a box of Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments.) Harmonix has confirmed with Destructoid that the game is set to release in “Late December.”

How late? That’s still a mystery. Some time between the 20th and 31st, I would guess. Either way, the demand for this game will most definitely be greater than the supply. Expect lots of sad faces this Christmas morning.

Paul McCartney going on World Tour

Published by Christian
Tags: Guitar Hero: World Tour, Paul McCartney, PlayStation 3, The Beatles, The Wings, Wii, Xbox 360

It’s not quite all of The Beatles, but Paul McCartney’s music will be making its way into Guitar Hero: World Tour via The Wings. “Band on the Run” is among the 86 tracks revealed in the game’s set list, found in its entirety after the break.

World Tour is still on track for a late October release in North America (ahem, see right) and November for Europe, while a certain Rock Band 2 will be coming soon to the Wii. You think this 86-song set list could cover an entire wall?

Activision and Red Octane say leaked ‘World Tour’ list a fake

Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up, but the teams behind Guitar Hero: World Tour have clarified that the supposed leaked setlist for the game posted earlier is a fake. A representative confirmed that while some of the songs included on the list are ones that would naturally be included in the game (including “Hot for Teacher” by Van Halen), the majority of the list is merely “wishful thinking.”

OK, so, we know some of the titles are actually in the game. Which ones are you thinking?

Possible Leak: Guitar Hero World Tour setlist

As of right now, this list could very well be completely fabricated. But, it’s great to see what could be, and then get angry later when it turns out your favourite song isn’t included right? It does look genuine, and the list itself is worth a glance if not just for the mind boggling effect. See for yourself after the break.
