As if a Suicune distribution for Europe wasn’t enough, GameStop locations across the United States began distributing the legendary Celebi today!

Up until now, Celebi hasn’t been available to most American Pokémon players, and has never been available nationwide — it was the only Pokémon with that distinction. From now through March 6th, head to your local GameStop to download this special Celebi, which will unlock a special scene when taken to the Ilex Shrine in Pokémon HeartGold and/or SoulSilver, and can be taken to Castelia City in Pokémon Black and White to obtain a Zorua.

Note that a “Gamestp Celebi” was initially scheduled to begin February 27th, but Nintendo has seemingly “recalled” those distribution cards and replaced them with this “WIN2011 Celebi,” the same one that is also being distributed on the Pokémon Black and White Tour, going on now.

Get a Mythical Pokémon Celebi Not Found in Normal Gameplay at GameStop Stores Nationwide

BELLEVUE, WA-February 16, 2011-Don’t let the limited chance to catch the Time Travel Pokémon Celebi pass you by! Beginning February 21, and through March 6, Pokémon fans can visit any U.S. GameStop store to receive the Mythical Pokémon Celebi through a character distribution event for their English-language copy of the Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver Version games for the Nintendo DS family of systems. Not found in normal gameplay, this special Celebi also has a move that it cannot get through normal training called Nasty Plot, which greatly increases Celebi’s Special Attack stat.

This exciting distribution from The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo comes just weeks before the North American launch of the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games. Receiving the special Celebi character distribution will give players the opportunity to catch the Tricky Fox Pokémon Zorua in Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version when Celebi is transferred into the game. Players will not be able to meet and catch Zorua any other way in the games! Zorua recently made its debut in the full-length movie Pokémon: Zoroark-Master of Illusions on Cartoon Network. Fans can also catch a free screening of the movie at participating theaters on the Pokémon Black Version & White Version Tour!

Players must have no more than two Wonder Cards in their possession.

With the latest Pokémon movie, Zoroark: Masters of Illusions, coming in February and both Pokémon Black and White coming to North American DS owners in March, it looks like Nintendo is well into a massive marketing blitz for the start of the year. In addition to the trio of GameStop distributions coming in January and the Toys”R”Us event going into February, it seems we on this side of the pond will be getting at least one more event Pokémon within the next several weeks.

GameStop employees with access to the Raikou/Entei/Suicune distribution materials have discovered that those materials also contain the ability to distribute Celebi in the future, specifically starting on February 27th and running through March 7th. All five Generation IV games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver) are able to obtain Celebi via the wireless Mystery Gift option. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Celebi can be brought to Ilex Forest to travel through time an unlock a bit of story. In addition, this same Celebi can be sent into Black and White via the Transfer Machine and taken to Castelia City in order to obtain a Zorua.

This event has yet to be officially announced. Event collectors may note that aside from a limited distribution at a New York City event several years ago, this is the first time that Celebi will legitimately be obtainable in North America.

Have some money leftover from all the holiday shopping? Get a few GameStop gift cards yesterday? You might be able to put it to good use today! A number of GameStop retail stores have been reported as actively taking pre-orders for Nintendo’s upcoming handheld: the Nintendo 3DS. At the moment, it seems GameStop has a non-official, $199 placeholder price in their system, but you’re not allowed to pay it off in full at the moment, nor are you able to pick a color. Reservations require a minimum deposit of $50.

The Nintendo 3DS is expected to arrive in North America in March. It will launch in Japan in February 26th for ¥25,000. That was actually the launch price for the Wii in Japan, which translated to US$216 at the time — Nintendo of America later decided to pack in Wii Sports and increase our launch price to $250. Those 2006 conversion rates don’t hold, though: When the ¥25,000 price point was revealed in September, it equated to US$288. Today, it’s US$302. Still, it’s expected that Nintendo of America won’t want to alienate the North American market, and it’s possible we may still see a sub-$250 launch price.

Now that GoldenEye’s almighty return is out of the way, we can aim down the sights towards the next Wii FPS in our mental queues; Sega’s Conduit 2, developed by High Voltage Software. Available in February 2011, the sci-fi shooter promises to kick some major alien ass with the main campaign, online multiplayer and new split-screen multiplayer mode. But for those that prefer a little something extra, Sega has announced a limited edition bundle that will be available exclusively at GameStop locations on launch day.

Conduit 2: Limited Edition features a 44-page art book “The Art of the Game,” showing off a behind-the-scenes look at creating the game’s impressive graphics. You’ll also received an enhanced ASE Search Device, an upgraded version of the original All-Seeing-Eye featured in the original title that scans twice as fast. Lastly, you’ll gain access to the Gold Destroyer Armor character, which can gain you unlockables faster.

Consider this as good as purchased.

We know of one GameStop location that broke the street date for Call of Duty: Black Ops, unfortunately at gunpoint.

Late Saturday evening, at least two men with semi-automatic weapons robbed a GameStop store in Harford Country, Maryland, at the Bel Air shopping center. Instead of just targeting the registers and a few gaming consoles, the thieves acquired four cases holding something much more valuable: Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game is set to release this Tuesday, November 9.

So far the suspects are still at large, but authorities are keeping an eye on any early copies which may be sold prior to the game’s street date. Anyone with any information is asked to call the local authorities.

Following up recent news of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer beta, exclusive to those who preorder the title from Gamestop on PS3, a new trailer has been released. Showing off a number of the nine new characters and a few of their special weapons and signature moves, you’ll also see a theatric interpretation of the Wanted game mode, a ten minute free for all mode where up to eight players go after assigned targets, and the community-unlocked Alliance, a cooperative mode involving three teams of two going head to head in two, four minute rounds of assassin asskicking. The trailer also makes mention of the maps multiplayer playable maps Rome and Castel Gandolfo, and a third unlockable map called Siena.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood bounds and leaps to consoles November 16, 2010, Q1 2011 for PC. The multiplayer beta, available only on PS3 for those who preorder from Gamestop, starts October 4.

Is that a banana in your pocket, or are you just happy to play Donkey Kong Country Returns?

If Retro Studios thinks I’m going to go bananas for this November’s brand spanking new DK Country title, they’re right! But they’re not alone. GameStop isn’t monkeying around either, as the gaming retailer is offering this mighty fine preorder incentive for the upcoming Wii game; a Wii Remote banana pouch!

I can’t imagine using this to hold my Wii Remotes, as I’m not usually partaking in any Wii action outside of my abode. But who doesn’t love a free zippered pouch? Put your keys and cash in it when you’re on the beach, or keep a rape whistle and pepper spray for those dark alleys you constantly find yourself in.

Either way, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Is it just me, or is this infinitely more wearable than the pre-order bonus for the original Scribblenauts? When you reserve your copy of Super Scribblenauts at Gamestop, you’ll be privy to a set of Maxwell headphones, available in grey, camoflage, or polka dot (randomly selected). Best of all, looks like they aren’t for show! They appear to be fully functional. Unlike that slacker ass rooster’s crest from Scribblenauts. Yeah.

Based on nothing but my selfish desires to purchase Super Mario Galaxy 2 as early as possible, I decided to call up a few local GameStop locations around the Los Angeles area. To my surprise, all of them are passing on the idea of hosting a midnight launch in favor of an early morning release. I was told that management simply didn’t think “a bunch of kids” were going to be waiting in line at midnight for a Mario game. Ah.

Instead, some GameStop locations will be opening at 9am to release Mario’s next adventure, but waiting almost a year since the game’s official reveal, a few more hours just wasn’t good enough for me.

Upon researching, it appears some Best Buy locations are actually hosting midnight launch events for Galaxy 2. In fact, one local Best Buy location is even giving away prizes, such as Mario cinch sacks and Mario cell art, all night to those standing in line. With a little finesse (actually just canceling and re-preordering the game) I was able to switch my preorder to a nearby Best Buy. Mario is as good as mine at midnight!

Those of you who were planning on picking up the PS3 or 360 version of Green Day: Rock Band probably appreciate the fact that you’ll be able to export the games’ tracklist to be able to play using the main series of Rock Band games. At $9.99, the cost of exporting seemed like a reasonable price to pay for convenience. However, if you’re willing to drop five bucks and pre-order the game at GameStop, you may be able to save those ten bucks down the road.

Apparently the pre-order will guarantee you a token to export the game’s entire included tracklist of 47 songs for free. It’s a pretty good deal if you were previously planning on paying full price for the game. Also, as D-toid points out, you can opt for Green Day: Rock Band Plus instead, which costs ten bucks more but is justified by your getting the same export token along with six additional tracks.
