Box art for Fire Emblem DS revealed

Published by Christian

On the left is what Fire Emblem looked like in 1990. On the right is what it looks like in 2008. Did someone over Intelligent Systems get lazy? A golden map, a sword, and the logo. I guess that could cut it… if this were a Zelda game. At the very least, stick some character art on there for when you announce and bring this to the States, Nintendo. I guarantee that putting Marth on the box will help sales.

You can click the picture above for a slightly larger version of both boxes, or simply check the gallery after the break for the DS box art alone.

Thracia 776 coming to Japanese VC in July

Nintendo has revealed Japan’s Virtual Console lineup for the month of July, and there’s one game standing out above the rest. Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 will mark the third Fire Emblem release on the Japanese VC.

The game is part of a duology, as is tradition in the series, and serves as a “midquel” to Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, and stars Leaf. It’s the game that introduced the “fog” and “nighttime” gameplay elements now featured Fire Emblem games, it used the “capture” and “dismount” elements of games past, and is the only game to use a “fatigue” system.

It’s not often I get excited about Japanese VC releases. Why? Because it’s for Japan. Until Nintendo decides to localize (or remake) one of the hardest games in the entire series, this is all I have to look forward to.

Check out the full VC list for Japan after the break.

Two more page scans showing off the upcoming Fire Emblem: NEW Shadow Dragons and the Blade of Light have been added to the gallery. You can see both of them after the break, though remember to click “Full Size” to see the whole thing.

If we had someone on staff who could read Japanese, I could tell you if there was any new info in the scans. I doubt there is any, but if any of you can decipher, feel free to drop me a line!
