World of Goo will be released via WiiWare in Europe after all

Published by Rhody
Tags: 2D Boy, Europe, World of Goo

2D Boy announced today, via their official blog, that the planned retail Wii version of World of Goo will not be hitting European at all. Instead, they’ve submitted the WiiWare version to Nintendo for review, and are hoping for a release next month.

This will most likely help World of Goo become as successful as it deserves to be. Not a lot of people are willing to pay twice as much for a game when the only bonus is an extra chapter.

World of Goo will have the same content in Europe as it does in America, and will most likely cary the same price tag of 1500 Wii Points. Take it from me. This game is totally worth it.

Crisis averted: ‘Disaster’ boxed

Published by Christian
Tags: Disaster Day of Crisis, Europe, Wii

SURGE is on the move: Disaster: Day of Crisis has launched in Japan. Finally. And now that we’ve got a solid European release date, you can expect we’ll be getting more and more information and media on the English version of the game. That’s on top of the spoilers we’ll get from Japan, of course.

At the moment, I don’t have any of that info for you, but here’s a little bit of media: the PAL box art for the game has officially been revealed. Interestingly, it looks remarkably like the Japanese box art.

Mega Man 9 fires onto PAL WiiWare service

Published by Christian
Tags: Europe, Helix, Mega Man 9, Strong Bad, WiiWare

Mega Man 9 launched in Europe yesterday (and yesterday/two days ago in Australia, depending on when you read this), along with the second episode of Strong Bad. Joining it is a little title known as Helix. For those of you in North America that didn’t bother to download it either, it’s a music and rhythm game that gives your arms a bit of a workout. Nothing like a bit of techno/Europop to start your day, right?

Of course not. You’re all probably well into a fight with Hornet Man by now.

  • Mega Man 9 (Capcom, 1000 Wii Points)
  • Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free (Telltale Games, 1000 Wii Points)
  • Helix (Ghostfire Games, 1000 Wii Points)

Published by Christian
Tags: Europe, Virtual Console, Wii

Whoop! We’ve been a little behind lately, and I’ll be posting about open writing positions later to reflect the reason why. Nevertheless, I’m not going to deprive you of the essential updates. Below are the list of Virtual Console games newly available to Europe and other PAL regions as of this past Friday. It’s the last week of this Hanabi celebration, meaning lower prices and no “import games” next week!

  • Spelunker (NES, 600 Wii Points)
  • Chase H.Q. (TG-16, 600 Wii Points)
  • Ys Book I & II (TG-CD, 800 Wii Points)
  • DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure (Super NES, 900 Wii Points)

Disaster gets a day in Europe

Published by Pete
Tags: Disaster Day of Crisis, Europe, release date

The ever elusive Disaster: Day of Crisis finally has a concrete street day. Everyone across the pond circle October 24th on the calendar. Sure, only Europe has been nailed down, but it’s great news for fans following the game. Sadly no additional footage came with the announcement, but with a date just around the corner some should be showing up shortly.

Europe isn’t getting Chrono Trigger this year

Sad face. It looks like the release date for the European territory has been pushed out of 2008 and into 2009. As it stands, the game is listed for the region as “early 2009″, and let’s hope that means as early as possible. Hold strong Chrono fans!

Smash Bros. hits the shelves running in Europe

Published by Pete
Tags: Europe, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

While the Brawl hype may be a thing of the past to most in Japan and North America, it looks like that hasn’t stopped the game in Europe. PAL players finally have access to the title, and an estimated 400,000 units have already been picked up since launch.

To top it off, sales of the Wii itself have gone up 35% with the launch of the game. More evidence that the Wii stock problem is isolated in North America. If hardware sales increased 35%, there must be additional Wii units to purchase. I’m not jealous. Really.
