When EA Sports MMA launches later this year, you’re going to have to know a thing or two about the roster before jumping into the ring. Each character will have their own abilities, and their own restraints. So maybe some personal information about each fighter will help your decision?

EA has given some bio information about a few of the game’s players, to  help you choose your fighting champion. Take a look below and get better acquainted with the boys.

Andre Arlovski
Arlovski is a former UFC heavyweight champion and is considered to be one of the top ten ranked heavyweights by some MMA publications. The 6’4”, 240 pound Belarusian mixed martial artist has a current record of 15-7-0. Arlovski is slated to take on former EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio “Big Foot” Silva on May 15 in St. Louis.

Lyle Beerbohm
Beerbohm comes into this weekend’s fight with an undefeated record of 13-0-0. Hailing from Spokane, Washington this 5’10”, 170 pound professional MMA fighters has defeated 7 of his opponents by knockout and 5 by submission.

Roger Gracie
Gracie holds a 2-0 career record and makes his long-awaited STRIKEFORCE and United States MMA debut on May 15 when he squares off with MMA legend Kevin Randleman. The 28-year-old Gracie, is a second degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and is a native of Brazil.

Alistair Overeem
Overeem, the current STRIKEFORCE heavyweight champion holds a mixed martial arts career record of 32-11-0. Overeem, a 6’5”, 260 pound Dutch kickboxer makes his long-awaited return to STRIKEFORCE and will be putting his title on the line against Brett Rogers on May 15. He is currently riding a four fight win streak and has wins over notable mixed martial arts fighters including Vitor Belfort, Paul Buentello and Sergei Kharitonov.

Kevin Randleman
Randleman is a former UFC heavyweight champion and collegiate wrestler. He wrestled at 177 pounds and was a two-time NCAA Champion for Ohio State. Randleman, of Columbus, Ohio is a tremendous athlete with explosive power and currently holds a record of 17-14-0. At 5’10”, 205 pounds, Randleman has an extensive MMA background with fights in the UFC, PRIDE and STRIKEFORCE.

Vitor Ribeiro
Ribeiro is a 5’8”, 155 pound Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist who has a career record of 20-3-0. He is an accomplished grappler and has won the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship four times. Ribeiro will be making his STRIKEFORCE debut this weekend against currently undefeated Lyle Beerbohm.

Murilo “Ninja” Rua
Rua, a 5’11”, 184 pound, Brazilian mixed martial artist is the former and first-ever EliteXC middleweight champion. He has an extensive fight history with PRIDE and is known for his well-rounded fighting skills. Rua is also the older brother to Mauricio “Shoguon” Rua – the newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion.

Fabricio Werdum
Werdum is a two-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion and will be facing the legendary Fedor Emelianenko on June 26 in San Jose, California. The 6’4”, 242 pound heavyweight was ranked as the #10 heavyweight in the world according to Sherdog. Com (as of April 2010) and has competed in PRIDE, UFC and STRIKEFORCE. He has won his last two STRIKEFORCE fights versus Antonio Silva and Mike Kyle.

This August, fans of Mixed Martial Arts will get their hands on EA Sports’ first MMA title. In the meantime, the company just released a bunch of new screenshots of the game. Go ahead, take a gander in our gallery below. Checking out high-res images of people knocking the crap out of each other is always fun.

Beware though, as they’re quite sweaty, and bloody.

Recently there was a rumor that if any UFC fighter signed on to star in EA Sports’ upcoming MMA title, they’d be blacklisted. Actually, it wasn’t really a rumor, as UFC president Dana White pretty much said it.

Now it it seems his bad blood has cooled. “Nah, some people have crossed over,” White told Kotaku in an impromptu interview. “But believe me, this is still going to continue to be a battle.” Uh oh. Guess the blood isn’t that cool yet.

The battle was over White’s feeling that THQ’s UFC Undisputed was the original fighter, and EA’s MMA effort was encroaching on their territory. “The UFC game is the original game,” White said. White also apparently tried to pitch an MMA fighting title to EA years ago, and believes their new title is nothing but a knife in the back. In other words, White is furious at EA.

“Their earnings reports just came out and they suck,” White continued. “This company that used to control the whole video game world and were these big f**king giants, we’ll see where they are in the next two years. And as far as the MMA space goes, we’ll kick the living s**t out of them.”

I guess for now, White’s beef is gone with the fighters, but EA isn’t out of the woods yet.

EA Sports is launching their first mixed martial arts title, with the release of EA Sports MMA.  The game, set to launch later this year, promises to offer fans a full MMA experience. The game includes an impressive roster of fighters from all weight classes, a variety of attack moves and proudly carries over MMA promotions like Rockstar. The title also includes MMA organizations Strikeforce, Dream and World Victory Road.

With a vague 2010 release date, it seems like we haven’t really seen much lately about EA Sports’ MMA title.  Fighter Cung Le sat down interview style to talk about his involvement with the upcoming debut MMA title from EA. Le even shows off his experience with motion capture.

The popularity of MMA and UFC fighting is truly astounding.  People just love watching other people beat the living daylights out of each other. Personally, I still miss the days of the Ultimate Warrior and the Rockers in the WWF.

With EA’s debut MMA title set to ship next year, the company has released a few new images of fighters set to step in the cage.  The game’s debut trailer also aired November 7th during the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers match.  EA has revealed that Strikeforce, a California based MMA organization, would be included as a premiere league within the game.  EA also announced fighters Brett Rogers and Jack Shields are confirmed as playable characters for the game.
