A hotel constructed out of ice in north Sweden is a marvelous sight on its own. Still, it just isn’t cool enough. Of course, giving an entire room of the hotel a Tron: Legacy makeover is definitely cool.

The aptly named Swedish Ice Hotel now features a suite that showcases the signature blue lighting effects of Tron in the hotel’s “Legacy of the River” suite. Created by extreme design team and inspired by the Disney film, the suite’s upgraded look marks the first time in the hotel’s 20-year history that such lighting technology has ever been used.

If Disney went to a bar, found Nintendo, and the two crazy kids got drunk and had a one night stand, and then Disney found out she was pregnant with Nintendo’s baby, it would look like this image.

The above pic seen on DeviantART uses Mickey Mouse’s iconic 1920′s cartoon, Steamboat Willie, as inspiration to create this epic Super Mario artwork. The creativity behind this hybrid photo is so inspiring, I’m now desperate for it to become an actual game. A black and white Mario platformer with hints of color in the simplistically upbeat hand-drawn 20s art style.

Back during E3, we showed off early prototype models of PDP’s impressive line of Disney’s Tron and Disney Epic Mickey gaming controllers and charging docks. Now, the accessory developer is ready to show off the final builds, matched with stellar collectors packaging.

Included are both galleries below, one for Tron and the other for Disney Epic Mickey. The Tron gallery includes the blue light emitting controllers for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles, and their respective packaging. The Epic Mickey gallery features the paintbrush Nunchuk attachment, as well as the Ink Blot and Mickey Wii Remote charger. Both sets of products are only available for a limited time, starting this November.

Warren Spector has his plate full, currently putting the finishing touches on this fall’s Disney Epic Mickey for Wii. But that doesn’t stop the mastermind from planning future projects. Aside from ideas for two additional titles in the Epic Mickey series (depending on sales, of course) Spector has his sights set on another Disney property; DuckTales — “woo, hoo.”

Here’s an exerpt from a recent interview between IndustryGamers.com and Spector about his love for all things Duck.

A day does not go by where I don’t tell somebody at Disney: “Gimme the ducks. Gimme the ducks! Uncle Scrooge, come on! Donald! Huey, Dewey, and Louie! Come on, let me do a duck game!” So yeah, I would love to do a duck game. Uncle Scrooge is the coolest character, you know? He was Indiana Jones before Steven Spielberg was a gleam in his mother’s eye, you know? I mean, come on. He’s a great character. Those Ducktales cartoons were based on comic books and about half of them were based on comic books by a guy named Carl Barks who… I mean I love the Ducktales TV show; the comic books were even better. Carl Barks was the best comic books artist and storyteller ever, and I would love to bring some of his work to life in games.

Considering the Duck clan hasn’t bathed in the lime light, in their own adventure, since Capcom’s DuckTales 2 in 1993, I’d say it’s about freakin’ time. And based on how incredible Epic Mickey has turned out, I’d say Spector is the man for the job.

Disney’s sequel to the first DS title in the MMORPG Club Penguin series picks up right where the original left off. In Club Penguin Elite Penguin Force: Herbert’s Revenge, players in the role of a member of the Elite Penguin Force Agent, must stop Herbert from his usual antics.

The upcoming sequel to Disney’s Tron is fast approaching, and promotional teasers for the flick has been spotted in the form of billboards across much of Los Angeles. The latest Tron Legacy billboard went on display in Santa Monica, and it’s pretty epic.

The flick stars Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn, son of Jeff Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn. Sam sets out on a mission to find his father, who has gone missing for the past 25 years. Sam must save his dad, after discovering that he’s been living inside a neon-heavy cyber world. Olivia Wilde, most notably from the Fox TV show House, also stars.

Tron Legacy will be in theaters December 2010, presented in Disney Digital 3D. Click below to view the other impressive Tron billboards.

Considering her alleged drug dependence issues and poor work ethic, you’d think the former Disney sweetheart would gladly take any work thrown her way.

As you can see, the cover for the new (yeah, new) DS video game based on the hit 2004 film Mean Girls, there’s no Lohan.

The rest of the cast showed up, including a pre-Mama Mia! Amanda Seyfried, The Notebook’s Rachel McAdams and Lacey Chabert, or as I like to call her, Eliza Thornberry. Ironically, the game follows Lohan’s character Cady throughout her high school adventures, making her boxart absence unfortunate.

The game will release April 20th.

Since Disney’s acquisition of Marvel last year, many feared how the house of the mouse’s new found ownership would impact future projects for the comic brand. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like Disney plans to water down or destroy any of these licenses.

The head of Disney Interactive Studios Graham Hopper spoke with Gamasutra about the company’s thoughts on potential upcoming Marvel projects. “We would like to do some things in there which would be really high-quality executions of Marvel content,” Hopper stated. “We’re engaged in a lot of conversations with the Marvel team.”

As far as branding these titles, President of Disney Interactive Media Stephen Wadsworth spoke about the possibility of branding solely under the Marvel name. “If we do things under the Marvel brand, it may just be [marked on the box] under the Marvel brand,” he said. This type of branding may also allow Disney to distribute mature titles without jeopardizing the company’s happy-go-lucky image.

It should be noted that Disney won’t be taking on all Marvel projects for a while. Some publishers have agreements already set, such as Sega’s role in releasing their upcoming Iron Man 2 title. Still, it’s great to know that Disney is looking to keep Marvel fans pleased. Who knows, maybe Disney can improve the quality of upcoming Marvel titles.

Hold on to your hats, folks. Finally, the first non-teaser Tron Legacy trailer has arrived, and it’s right above all this typing.

Tron Legacy is the sequel to the original Disney Tron film of the ’80s. Featuring a pre-Lebowski Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn, the original film takes place within a digital video game world (that’s the much abridged version of the plot). The sequel, now twenty-eight years later, follows the adventures of Flynn’s son Sam searching for his father. The film promises to offer an incredible visual experience, and is also being presented in Disney Digital 3D.

The much anticipated film is set to release December 17th. Bring on the Tron!

The trailer for the upcoming video game Tron Evolution, a tie-in for the Disney flick Tron Legacy, has just been released via Spike’s Video Game Awards 2009.  The trailer promises to feature one of the movies stars, sexy siren Olivia Wilde.  Although you wouldn’t know it from the trailer, which just looked like an HD montage of the best moments from the original film.

Regardless, who isn’t excited for a new Tron game?

There are a couple aspects to that. I think I’ve mentioned before, that I’m a big believer in finding out where the line is by pushing past it. There are lines that are on every project; every project exists in a creative box. For most of my games, I create that box and the team has to sort of work within it. In this case, there’s a creative box that I create, and there’s the creative box that Disney overlays on that. I know where my lines are, but I don’t know where Disney’s are. I had a lot of stuff generated that was very specifically designed to be provocative and to cross that line. I know it’s too far — or is it? You tell me. So it forces a confrontation or a decision. Some of what you saw was beyond the line, and so I learned something from it. Some of it was early design ideas that are no longer relevant. Some of it is stuff that’s still in the game, and I’m not saying what.

I think I’m in the camp that thinks his concept designs were nothing short of jaw-droppingly gorgeous.  I know much of the detailed in the concept art simply isn’t possible on Wii, but some of the screenshots we’ve seen seemed to be overly cartoonish.  I’m hoping the game finds a common link between the two.

The above image is a piece of concept art for Warren Spector’s Disney Wii project, named “Epic Mickey.” Yes, this is not only a Disney game, but a Mickey Mouse game. Judging from the pieces of concept art found on artist Fred Gambino’s website, it appears to be a pretty disturbing steampunk take on the classic Mickey Mouse characters. Images include a terrifying robotic monstrosity wearing Mickey Mouse ears, an elephant elevator/Bioshock splicer, a robotic zombie Goofy, and the most un-Phantom Blot-like Phantom Blot ever conceived. One particular feature common in a lot of the landscape pieces is a castle sitting on a plateau high above the rest of the world.

Now, keep in mind that none of these images were officially released, only leaked. They’re just concept art, so the end result may not look quite so disturbing. In fact, what exactly are the odds that Disney is ok with mutilating Goofy and putting him in a game that’s likely to disturb small children for life?

I’m looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Does IGN know things that we don’t? Of course they do. The question is what exactly do they know, and could this “little” mistake be indicative of a future announcement?

A placeholder page was found on IGN’s Wii Media pages for a “Kingdom Hearts Wii.” Sounds like a port of the original game for the Wii, or a Wii-exclusive sidequest. Not the case, if this listing is to be believed! The description specifically states “The third chapter in the mash-up adventure of Square-Enix and Disney.”

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the game is categorized as TBA, or to-be-announced… meaning the game exists, it just hasn’t officially been confirmed or shown. On the other hand, I don’t know how long this page has been up, and it could have been there since KH3 on Wii rumors started popping up years ago. What do you think?

Warren Spector’s development studio, Junction Point, happens to be owned by Disney. In addition, Spector has also recently stated that he and his team “have been working hard on our own and (get ready for the cool factor to go way up) in collaboration with folks from Disney Feature Animation and Pixar.” What’s going on??

Well apparently, it’s something codenamed “Epic Mickey,” and it may actually exist. Gamasutra has seen concept art, and describes it as such:

Another sketch included a surreal seashore invasion scene, in which machines wearing the faces of the Seven Dwarfs deposit old-fashioned renditions of Disney characters onto the beach with mechanical hands… Though the kooky environmental concepts, with visible large cogs, gears, and even a large fork that serves as a building’s awning, are somewhat reminiscent of Disney’s Toontown Online MMO, the images — particularly the cloud-stained seaside painting — have a distinctly shadowed, steampunk vibe.

Interestingly enough, there’s a whole bunch of evidence that seems to line up and point to this game being a reality, be they from EGM articles or from Spectors’ own comments. Head on over for more, and prepare for some mind boggling!
