Nintendo gifting another round of Ocarina of Time 3D soundtracks

Happy Thanksgiving, indeed: If you were one of the people who just missed the cut for a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Official Soundtrack back when it was offered as an early registration bonus, you may have had another chance at it. Some of you have probably already received this e-mail:

Hello,

Thanks for registering your copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D in your Club Nintendo account. We know it’s been a while since you registered, but we’ve managed to locate a few extra copies of the soundtrack CD that was awarded to those who registered the game in June. As you just missed getting a copy, we’re going to send one of these newly located copies to you!

If you haven’t already received an email notification, you will soon!

Listen up, Nintendo fanboys. You may want to log-in to your Club Nintendo accounts and check on your elite status, because the Club Nintendo year ends June 30. That’s Thursday, for those summer slackers that have no concept of time. Still no idea what I’m saying? You have FOUR days!

Club Nintendo gives free gifts to those who earn enough coins to warrant a Gold or Platinum status rank by the 30th. To earn a Gold level prize, you’ll need to scrounge up 300 coins, while Platinum rank is achieved at 600 coins. Last year’s Platinum prize was a Super Mario cast figurine, while Gold members received a calendar.

Last year, those secret prizes were announced on July 1 — which is a Friday this year — so you’ll likely discover what your well deserved gift is before the weekend. I’m hoping for some celebratory Legend of Zelda swag myself. What better way than to commemorate the franchise’s 25th anniversary?

Club Nintendo adds “Intent to Buy” options for 3DS titles

I’m sure several of you have pre-ordered your Nintendo 3DSs for March 27th. That’s a cool quarter of a grand right there. But how many of you remembered to pre-order a few games to go with it?

If you’ve still got some cash to burn and plan on picking up a few first party titles, you might want to use Club Nintendo’s “Intend to Buy” feature to snag a couple of extra coins for them. As of this past Friday, Nintendo has added Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver, and all three versions of nintendogs + cats for you to promise your money towards and get yourself a little bonus next month.

Club Nintendo strings up some new Kirby rewards

I normally don’t post about new Club Nintendo rewards, but these two new additions might actually be worth considering! Nintendo’s added two pairs of patches themed after Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Wii. For 350 coins per pair, you’d need the equivalent of seven Wii games from Nintendo in order to afford them (or 14 Wii games if you want both sets), but it’s hard to say no to anything as adorable as these.

Other new or recent additions to the Club Nintendo Rewards selection include Super Mario Bros. terrycloth towels, a Dragon Quest IX screensaver, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii colored Wii Remote Wrist Straps.

Just a reminder, those of you who joined Club Nintendo when it first became available in North America will probably want to spend some coins soon. All coins earned on or before June 30, 2009 will expire at the end of this coming June. Me? I’m still holding out in case they announce the Galaxy soundtrack for American club members between now and then…

New Club Nintendo rewards might be your bag, baby

Just this October, Nintendo added a few new rewards to the North American Club Nintendo store. And in an act of sheer kindness, they’re at it again.

So, what’s new you ask? A 1-up mushroom tote bag, a Starman messenger bag and a Super Mario Galaxy 2 screensaver. The cotton-canvas tote bag, which holds up to 20 pounds, is just 250 coins. The black cotton messenger bag, which holds 30 pounds, is 550 coins. The PC or Mac screensaver, which cycles through Galaxy 2 gameplay footage in a similar fashion as the “Evolution of Mario” screensaver, is just 10 coins.

We’re finally getting some terrific prizes folks. But are they worth your coinage, or will you wait for something better?

Club Nintendo keeps Mario’s birthday bash going

There doesn’t seem to be much that can stop Nintendo from celebrating the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., and that is a very good thing if you are a fan of the portly plumber (let’s be honest, who isn’t?). Nintendo of America has started offering new rewards through Club Nintendo in honor of the event, and man are they sassy. Click over to see what’s in store.

The first is a “Evolution of Mario” screen saver featuring footage from games ranging from the original title on the NES to the recently released Super Mario Galaxy 2. The best part of all? It will only put you back 10 coins. That’s only one tenth of a free life! Which, thanks to the economy, translates roughly to just under a quarter of a penny, or .0023 cents.

The second reward is a series of pins (two pictured above) to spice up your favorite man-purse, collared coat, or breast pocket with a little Nintendo love. The pins are a bit more expensive, clocking in at 450 coins a piece.

If you’re a Club Nintendo member, I suggest checking both rewards out. I have the screen saver uploaded right now and let me tell you. I’ve never been so excited to NOT use my computer before.

Cool off with new paper fans, coming to Club Nintendo

During this week’s edition of Nintendo Week, show hosts Gary and Alison teased an upcoming reward that will soon arrive on the Club Nintendo service. The duo showed off two new Japanese paper fans, with decorative Mario themed designs. You can check them out during the 5:05 mark of the above video.

These will surely help wave off the scorching summer heat. No release date has been given, but we’ll be checking back regularly to let you know when the fans have arrived.

Club Nintendo 2010 Elite Status Rewards Announced

Nintendo has just announced the Elite Status rewards that Platinum and Gold members of the Club Nintendo service will receive. While many fans weren’t really thrilled with the choice of a Mario hat (which the label indicated you’re not supposed to actually wear aside from a quick photoshoot) or the WiiWare mini-game Doc Louis’s Punch Out!!, this year offers a pretty awesome prize.

Platinum members will receive a special Super Mario collector’s figurine. Featuring Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Princess Peach, Bowser and a goomba, this is sure to serve as a conversation piece for any Nintendo fanboy. The figurine stands at 3.9 inches in height.

Once again, Gold members will receive a calendar, for the year 2011, featuring artwork from some of Nintendo’s biggest games over the past year. If you aren’t sure if you achieved Gold or Platinum status, you can check your Club Nintendo account, or wait for the special rewards email. Click after the break to see the Gold prize.

Take those surveys, and register your software people! The Club Nintendo year ends in just a few short days, on June 30th. That means in order to be eligible for the Gold or Platinum annual surprise reward, you must reach the proper coin plateau.

Earning 300 coins nets you the Gold Reward, while 600 coins will award you the Platinum prize. Prizes will be announced shortly after the Club Nintendo year ends, and will be received by members at the end of the calendar year.

Club Nintendo year ends June 30th; Are you platinum?

Nintendo wants to remind their legion of Club Nintendo members to register every last bit of software, and take every last survey, because the Club Nintendo year ends June 30th. The Club Nintendo service was established to give access to exclusive rewards to gamers that are loyal to Nintendo brand products. Aside from a bunch of rewards that gamers can order with their coins, including the brand new Black Wii Remote holder added today, Nintendo also releases special gifts to their most loyal of fans.

Nintendo established two Elite Status levels, platinum and gold. Gold is achieved by redeeming 300 coins while platinum is achieved by reaching 600 coins. Last year, gold members received a 2010 calendar while platinum members had a choice between a WiiWare exclusive of Doc Louis’ Punch Out!! or a Mario hat.

This year’s prizes have not been announced yet.

Club Nintendo closed for maintenance – UPDATED

Club Nintendo here in North America has been closed all day due to maintenance and site repairs. But should we be expect some new rewards when the site launches back up?

Probably not. Club Nintendo rewards trickle in slower than the punchline to a Dennis Miller joke. But 2010 has started out well, with new Nintendo character based folders, and a few sets of Mario posters.

We’ll keep you posted if Nintendo adds new exclusive items to the site, whenever it comes back.

UPDATE: Club Nintendo has reopened, and now is offering two optional surveys. One is for Wii owners describing their gaming and game purchasing habits, while another is a personal survey asking about you as a consumer. Each is worth 20 coins, and both expire June 30th of this year.

Club Nintendo: Japan gets Mario and Animal Crossing fans

I’ve earned Platinum statuses for the first two years that Club Nintendo has been offered here in North America, and I’ve got enough “To-Do” items to provide me with enough coins for a few more years. Despite that, I’ve not claimed any rewards beyond the special Mario hat from last year – there hasn’t really been anything that I think justifies spending my hard-earned coins.

Japan, on the other hand, keeps getting cool new items – literally! For a mere 150 coins, club members can beat the heat this summer with one of four – or all four, if they really want – Mario and Animal Crossing fans. Now, I’m not saying these are the kinds of things I’d redeem my coins for from Club Nintendo, but it’s nice to have options like these. Personally, I’m still holding out for that Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack that the rest of the world has as an option.

European Club Nintendo offering DSi mood light

Why don’t we get anything this good? Club Nintendo in other regions offer soundtracks or cool items like this DSi mood light you see, while here in America, we’re stuck with posters and other cheapies. I’m sorry – I don’t want to buy a DS collection of mini-games with coins earned through $800 worth of game purchases.

I could go for a mood light, that would look stylish. I could also for an American version of the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack that’s available everywhere but here. They even have shoulder bags and umbrellas. Useful products.

For those who can actually buy the DSi mood light, it’s 3000 stars. For those who would like to buy one for me, I’d appreciate it.

New Club Nintendo rewards appear

Some truly awesome rewards have been added to Nintendo of America’s Club Nintendo service.

The website just added a three poster-pack, similar to the recently released Zelda pack, this time featuring the famous mustached plumber. One poster is a Mario history timeline, displaying the franchise’s more notorious adventures. The second features the entire Mario family in a group pose, and the last features Mario in his signature punch pose. This poster pack is available for 350 coins.

Also now available is the Nintendo DS title, Game & Watch Collection 2. The game features three Game & Watch titles, originally released in 1981. The DS game is only available on Club Nintendo, for 800 coins.

Last but not least is the new WiiWare title Grill-Off with Ultra Hand we’ve recently spoken about. The game is just 80 coins.

Club Nintendo gets Grill-Off on Wednesday

Finally, another reason for Club Nintendo owners to get excited about the service. Members will be able to download the new game Grill-Off with Ultra Hand! when it becomes available Wednesday, March 31st.

As we mentioned previously, players will use the Ultra-Hand to cook meat on the grill, and quickly plate the dish before the meat burns. Grill-Off features both single player and a competitive versus challenge mode. It’ll be like your own little grilling version of a Food Network Challenge!

The Ultra-Hand was actually a plastic toy arm created by Nintendo in 1966.

The exclusive Club Nintendo title will launch for 80 coins, for WiiWare.
