Brightening up Black Friday are two new colors for the Nintendo DSi, available starting this week on November 26. The bold new hues of green and orange, packed with Mario Party DS, will retail for $149.99 in their bundle form.

Including the new red DSi XL holiday bundle (which includes Mario Kart DS, and Brain Age^™ Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock preloaded for $179.99), you can now choose from quite a sample of the rainbow when it comes to DSi colors! As previously seen by leaked Black Friday ads, Nintendo has confirmed that they are releasing two different DSi bundles for the holiday season.  One DSi bundle will be called the “Mario Collection” and will come with pre-installed DSiWare titles Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, WarioWare: Snapped!, Dr. Mario Express, Mario Calculator and Mario Clock. The bundle will come in a new Metallic Blue color.

The second bundle comes in the new White color and is called the “Brain Age Collection.” It will include Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Sudoku, Brain Age Express: Math, Clubhouse Games Express: Card Classics and Photo Clock.

Both bundles will stay at the $169.99 price tag, and will release November 27th for a limited time only.

This is one of those “OK yeah duh of course they’re gonna do this now” moments. A scanned Best Buy ad from their Black Friday deals reveals two DSi bundles for $169: a white DSi with three  Brain Age Express titles, Clubhouse Games and Photo Clock and a dark metallic blue DSi with Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, WarioWare: Snapped, Dr. Mario Express, Mario Calculator and Mario Clock.

While the bundles don’t have the right games in the right combination for my tastes (I’d prefer Brain Age, Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, and Dr. Mario Express in one kit) this still could be a killer deal for the right person. At the very least it one of the first moves in a new (very welcome) era of cartridge-free gaming. Could one day all the major consoles include a game…already downloaded and ready to go? It’d save the materials and the financial risk of printing games that might not ultimately sell, so there’s definitely a benefit from a publisher’s point of view. And I already have to stack milk crates in my living room (you didn’t think that was for aesthetics, did you?) just to have room for all my games. I for one welcome our new cartridge-free overlords.
