I guess this was supposed to be Platinum Games’ April Fools joke, but with the retro style of games like Mega Man 9 & 10, and what I like to call the neoretro style of New Super Mario Bros Wii and Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I’m a little curious to see what a full retro-styled version of Bayonetta would be like (despite it not actually having any direct 8-bit origins).

Perhaps it would look like this video? I think I’d have to buy it if it did.

The scary thing is, all the little kids are going to think this is real, and they’ll be posting on forums all over the Internet calling each other n00bs for believing or not believing it. Brace yourselves.

I don’t know. I’m inclined to think a Pokemon Kart game could have potential, but 493 go-karts? Can you imagine playing with three other people cycling through the choices, checking all the stats, and trying to pick one? Personally, I think racing could have its place in the series (if everyone’s riding on Dodrio or something), but only as a mini-game.

SEGA has announced a new fake title set to take revolutionize gaming forever. ECCO: Water Wars 2 is a North American exclusive video game, that returns ECCO the dolphin to consoles. ECCO is now a time traveling killer, on a mission to destroy everyone that’s wronged him in the past.

The title is the first F.P.S., (First Porpoise Shooter) ever created.  ECCO will use guns, grenades and anything else at his disposal to kill. He’ll even take down Russian submarines, all because they are looking for a lost copy of SEGA Bass Fishing in his seas.

Pretty creative April Fool’s joke, right? Although, I do kind of miss ECCO the dolphin now.

According to their story, Nintendo is bringing a “Virtual Handheld” service to DSiWare, in which games such as Link’s Awakening, Pokemon Red and Blue, and would be among the first available. Similar to the third party consoles offered on the Wii Virtual Console, Sega Game Gear games and Atari Lynx games would also be joining the shop channel.

Nintendo Life even brings up the possibility of not a Hanabi Festival, but a Hanabi-style festival to bring “import” games to the service, much like Sin & Punishment and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels were brought to the Wii VC. I’m so wishing this wasn’t an April Fools joke… I want to play some Fire Emblem 6…

According to Famitsu, Sega has been filming for 18 months in Russia. Sega? 18 months? Russia? Filming? Reportedly, a live action movie of Valkyria Chronicles 2 for a Spring 2011 release. Get this: there are elaborate storyboards, concept art, and photos of game director Shuntaro Tanaka on location holding a megaphone and clapper board. Very well done, indeed.

I like this one. It’s a mix of Virtua Fighter and Street Fighter, but as others have pointed out, it’s just a hoax. It’s very well done though, which is probably why this has spread to about a handful of mirrors on YouTube. Excellent.

There’s always a third game, right? With the Japanese release of the eleventh movie, Giratina and the Sky Bouquet, coming up in a few months, Nintendo has announced the third game in the Diamond & Pearl generation. Pokémon Opal has been set for a July release on the Nintendo DS. What’s different about this game? Well…

• Deeper storyline surrounding Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina; potential to capture all three.
• New Battle Nation area expands the Battle Tower offerings of Diamond & Pearl.
• Pokémon are now in 3D during battles, in the Pokédex, and on the GTS.
• Optional voice commands for attacking in battle.
• Lugia and Ho-Oh finally obtainable without a Nintendo event.
• Minor shuffling of trainer and building locations expected.
• A few surprise cameos.

Is that enough to warrant catching them all again? The game launches in Japan on July 19, in North America on July 20, and in Europe on July 24. Full press release after the break.
