Poison mushroom a 1-down for Mario

Throughout time, Mario’s always used mushrooms to his advantage. However, he can forget about saving the princess with this thing in his possession.

This evil, blood spewing exorcist fungi looks like it was thrown up by Satan himself. Either that, or this is a preview of what Tim Burton would do if he took over the Mario franchise.

In actuality, this little shroom was created out of those little 1-up mushroom candy tins you may find at an Urban Outfitters or Five Below.

Still, it’s as creepy as a mushroom can get. Who knows, maybe this is how Mario reached his demise.

GTA: Episodes From Liberty City for PC and PS3 delayed

Due to some “minor content changes”, the release date of Episodes From Liberty City for PC and PS3 has been pushed back a full two weeks. Rockstar cites “a request by Sony Europe to make some minor content changes to the PAL PS3 version of the game,” as reason for the delay. A press release regarding the delay said in part:

“Despite our best efforts to work through this quickly, the two weeks were needed to complete submission…We understand and sympathize with the fans that will be upset by this delay. We want to assure our fans that the minor changes made to the game will not affect the gamers’ enjoyment of the games, these will not affect any gameplay elements and were not related to any local ratings requirements.”

A blog post on Rockstar Games stressed their wish to release the game more or less simultaneously, hence the delay in North America and other regions outside of Europe, where the changes need to be made. Episodes From Liberty City arrives in North America on April 13. Players in other regions can purchase or download the double expansion (containing DLC chapters The Ballad Of Gay Tony and The Lost And The Damned) starting April 16.

Sonic 4 blog updated with Eggman, new music and screens

The Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 blog has been slowly updating with new goodies and information since it launched earlier this year. Today, some pretty substantial updates appeared, and fans are foaming at the mouth.

The second and final mysterious featured character of the game has been revealed as Dr. Eggman, no real surprises there. Since losing the Master Emerald to Sonic, he’s now determined to destroy Sonic once and for all.

Additionally, the site now features the music to Act 1’s Splash Hill Zone. And it’s downloadable! Take a look at the game’s official blog below for the latest on the game, including concept art, wallpapers, and the game’s trailers. The title will launch this summer on WiiWare, XBLA and PSN.

SEGA talks PS Move, E3 and MadWorld

In an interview with CVG, SEGA’s Mike Hayes discussed a few trending topics, from motions controls to their upcoming software plans. With Sony’s GDC official reveal of PlayStation Move, Hayes remarked on the whether it’s fair to compare Sony’s motion controller to the Wii Remote, “…I think that is unfair,” said Hayes. “Let’s not forget that Sony has launched hugely successful peripherals before. Whether it’s EyeToy or its controllers, Sony has been there and had great success.”

When asked about the chances of a MadWorld sequel, on Wii or not, it wasn’t a flat out “no,” despite mediocre sales. “It’s something we’ve looked at and it’s something we constantly talk about. But there are no firm things to discuss on that at the moment.” Although it was a fun title, I just couldn’t get past the black and white style of the game. I’m sure most other gamers who haven’t picked up the game felt the same way.

Lastly, Hayes commented on whether they’ll create additional core titles for the Wii, despite poor sales on their recent mature outings. “You’ll see that at E3. One of the things is whether they’re super mature, that’s a different thing. But the Wii market is huge. Going for the super-hardcore? Probably, the answer is not. But do we think there are edgy games we can bring out on Wii? Yes.”

Capcom contest to win Street Fighter iPhone case

The holy grail of all gaming iPhone cases, hell, all iPhone cases period has appeared on Capcom’s official blog. The case is designed featuring Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter IV with the text “Waiting for a new challenger” and the Street Fighter IV logo below. Let me wipe the drool off my keyboard now.

Only 40 of these divine cases were made, and Capcom is giving away one through a contest. All you have to do is tell them which title of theirs you’d love to see make it to the iPhone, under the comment section of the article. My vote is for DuckTales. The winner will be selected at random.

Final Fight: Double Impact arriving on Tax Day

Capcom has announced the release date for their latest visually enhanced retro revival. Final Fight: Double Impact will release April 14th for Xbox LIVE and April 15th for the PSN version. The game features two titles, the original arcade classic Final Fight and Magic Sword.

Final Fight follows Cody, Guy and Haggar on a mission to save Haggar’s daughter from the clutches of the Mad Gear Gang. Through six stages, you’ll have a lot of enemies to kill in this side scrolling adventure. Magic Sword follows “The Brave One” as he tries to take down Drokmar with the help of eight magical allies.

The title features graphical upgrades, remixed musical soundtrack and different visual modes, such as playing the game housed within an arcade cabinet. Best of all, both titles include online co-op, with voice chat support. The combo title release will be available for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99 on PSN.

Nintendo publishing DS Rooms title in Europe

Coming to Nintendo DS and Wii next week in North America, and May 21 in Europe comes the puzzle title Rooms: The Main Building. Taking place in the spooky Rooms Mansion, the title provides 100 different sliding puzzles to solve using your stylus. Think of the mansion as a giant maze that you must navigate your way through. Each room is a different level, and exiting won’t be easy.

Guide your character from tile to tile in an attempt to make it through all of the mansion’s rooms. You’ll be able to slide sections of the room for your benefit. Each level is also riddled with obstacles like floods of water, and and aiding devices such as explosives to help destroy walls and a teleporting telephone.

Nintendo is set to publish the title in Europe, with Konami publishing the title in the U.S. Take a gander at the game’s puzzling DS trailer below.

Naughty Bear goes homicidal this summer

Naughty Bear was a bit different than the other bears in the forest. He was often picked on and teased for being different. When a group of his fuzzy, cuddly teddy bear acquaintances get together for a birthday party, they don’t invite him. Instead of getting hurt, Naughty Bear gets even and goes on a killing spree. The game offers a relatable premise for gamers and nerds alike, one which we can probably all relate to. Except the homicidal rampage part.

Scour the Island of Perfection for your former friends, and terrorize them until your heart’s content. Or until they’re all psychologically or physically harmed for life. Some bears won’t be bullied without a fight however, and may team up against you. You’ll have to avoid their attacks, and beat them at your own game.

New Red Dead Redemption trailer portrays “Life In The West”

Red Dead Redemption comes out on the pushed-back release date of May 18.
