Direct feed Arc Rise Fantasia screens are out!

Published by Christian under Wii

Six new screenshots plus the logo from Arc Rise Fantasia have been released by Marvelous. Inside Games has some new information as well, which Fanboy translates as the following:

  • Brown-haired guy is named Bright
  • Blond guy is Prince Alse
  • “Mysterious” purple-haired girl is Rhyphia
  • Mage is named Adele and she is shown using Energy Blast
  • The “Containment Dragons” shown are invading the city of Diamant

Sounds good so far! You can see all of the new screenshots in addition to all past scans of the game after the break.

Metal Gear Solid 4 comes to the Wii?

Published by Christian under Culture, Wii

This little beauty was seen at a Sam’s Club by a “Stephen.” Probably required a second pass to realize what it was. Here’s what he had to say:

Saw this a few days ago at my local Sams Club in Douglasville, Ga. I picked it up to verify it is for the Wii. The release is, I think, is a week or two away. Sorry for the poor quality. I was in a huge rush.

$52.66? It’s probably Metal Gear Solid 4: Party Mini-Games Edition. I think I’ll pass.

Cook in 3-D with Cooking Mama World Kitchen for Wii

Published by Ryan under Wii

While some of us might be perfectly happy cooking in “real-life 3-D”, some of us have neither the skills or the knowledge to create an edible masterpiece in the family kitchen. For those of us who probably need a little bit of help (myself included), the Cooking Mama games can serve as a virtual tutor for preparing various meals.

Cooking Mama World Kitchen for the Wii will receive a much needed 3-D upgrade, as well as new recipes to keep us from eating pizza and Top Ramen everyday. Like the previous game, you will be able to use the Wii Remote to slice and dice, and boil your food without any of those pesky kitchen injuries. You can see the full press release after the break.

Rock Band 2 comes to the Wii!

Published by Christian under Wii

While Harmonix completely left the Wii out of their Rock Band 2 press release, we can always count on second-hand sources for the scoop. Apparently, instead of being a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 and then being added only to the PlayStation 3 lineup, the PlayStation 2 and Wii will be getting in on that later action. Translation: the Wii is getting Rock Band 2, and it’s getting it before Christmas.

Of course, none of this should matter if the game’s online capabilities are a carbon copy of the first Rock Band.

Available this week at retail: June 30, 2008

Published by Christian under Nintendo DS, Wii

Decent week on the retail front! North Americans get the launch of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on the Wii, and Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 for the DS. I think it’s pretty safe to say the latter is your best bet. Over in Europe, both Super Swing Golf and We Love Golf are now out for the Wii while the DS sees releases for Arkanoid and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, among others.

The full retail list is after the break, including Japanese releases.

Wii left out of Rock Band 2 announcement

Published by Christian under Wii

Well, we’ve seen Rock Band on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and we’ve seen the “special” edition on the Wii. If the new Rock Band 2 announcement is any indication, we might not be seeing the sequel on Nintendo’s console. Oh, darn.

Those of you still desiring another Rock Band game for Wii over the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour do have a little bit of hope to cling on to. When the first Rock Band was announced for the 360 and PS3, the Wii was left out, but Harmonix was optimistic about a Wii version. In addition, recent surveys suggested that Harmonix would bring a sequel to the Wii.

Of course, if Harmonix can’t take a hint from Vicarious Visions’ inclusion of downloadable content in Guitar Hero: World Tour - ironic, isn’t it - then I’m sure Rock Band 2 wouldn’t be missed on the Wii.

See some spectacular scans showing Shake It!

Published by Christian under Wii

Why is it that whenever companies center game logos on box art, the feel the need to include the “TM” as part of the logo’s width? It’s not noticeable at first glance, but the fact that the rest of the logo is a little bit “off” now is.

That’s the case with the box art for Wario Land: Shake It! You can view a larger version of the North American box art after the break. There are also a couple of magazine page scans as well, so be sure to check those out while clicking “Full Size” to see the larger versions. Visually, the game’s shaking up to be quite impressive visually, and you can get a peek at some of the game’s handdrawn cutscene artwork.

Wii scans of Sonic Unleashed…unleashed!

Published by Christian under Wii

Scans do NOT do this game justice. Four grainy screens are after the break, though you might consider restraining yourself if you’ve been spoiled by all the HD versions from the PS3 game. We definitely need some direct feed screens right away to get a better feel for how Sonic Unleashed really looks on the Wii as opposed to the other platforms, but rest assured - Sonic’s model and environments are clearly above and beyond those in Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Getting your game on in Canada may mean taking it off

Published by Pete under Culture, Wii

Microsoft has returned the results to a poll asking many northern neighbors how they like to and where they play games. I’m not sure why this poll happened either, just try not to think about that too hard.

Either way, the most common responses included in the bedroom, the bathroom, public, ect. and the results were pretty typical. But most surprisingly, when you get straight down to it, almost 20 percent of men who responded said they have played naked, and almost 10 percent of women have.

It’s something I have never thought about, but I guess it isn’t that weird. I tip my hat to all of those Canadians who are trying their hardest to make the great white north the great tan north. Somebody has to do it.

Nintendo takes appeal in Anascape case to higher court

Published by Christian under Corporate/Business, GameCube, Wii

Nintendo may have been denied an appeal, but they’re not going down that easily. Following the upholding of a May 14th ruling ordering Nintendo to pay Texas-based Anascape, Ltd. a sum of $21 million, Nintendo of America’s Charlie Scibetta confirmed that it ain’t over ’til it’s over.

Nintendo does not agree with the ruling of the trial court on the remittitur motion. Nintendo intends to appeal this case to the Federal circuit court.

Yep. This could be a while. Didn’t we have another never-ending legal battle last summer?
