Super R-Type and Spelunker now on Virtual Console

Published by Christian under Virtual Console

080317superrtype.jpg

I had this dream last night that Duck Hunt would be hitting the Virtual Console. In my dreams, right? Yeah…

So two new games for the Virtual Console today. No huge headliner games, but still two. It’s really starting to feel - and this may just be me - like we keep getting Super R-Type over and over. With how the VC releases have been these past weeks, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t matter if this were the case or not.

  • Spelunker (NES, 500 Wii Points)
  • Super R-Type (SNES, 800 Wii Points)

Full press release after the break.

Operation Wolf and Super R-Type for PAL VC

Published by Christian under Virtual Console

080314palvc.jpg

Two new games are available for Europeans and Australians via the Wii Shop today. Unfortunately, I’m hearing that the selection isn’t all that great and probably not worth your time. Save your pennies for Mario Kart, I guess…

  • Operation Wolf (NES, 500 Wii Points)
  • Super R-Type (SNES, 800 Wii Points)

16-bit day on the Virtual Console

Published by Christian under Virtual Console

080310navc.jpg

Two new games are available on the Virtual Console for us in the West today, both from the 16-bit era. It must be inflation day as well, since both the SNES title and the Genesis title will put a $9 dent in your credit card bill.

  • DoReMi Fantasy: Milon’s DokiDoki Adventure (Super NES, 900 Wii Points)
  • Puyo Puyo 2: Tsuu (Sega Genesis, 900 Wii Points)

Full press release after the break.

One new Virtual Console game is available for Europe and Australia this week. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards! That’s pretty good, considering some of the recent weeks the PAL VC has had.

Super Turrican becomes this week’s only VC game

Published by Christian under Virtual Console

080303navcsuperturrican.jpg

We’ve had weeks with only one Virtual Console addition before. I can’t remember it, but it’s happened. This week, North Americans have the Super Nintendo game, Super Turrican, available for download. If you’re disappointed, you can head over to our forums and join our members in complaining about the lack of Majora’s Mask on the VC. Otherwise, you can sit patiently for the next five and a half days until we get Christmas in March.

More games are available on the Virtual Console for Europe and Australia that I’ve never played. However, I’ve heard good things about these games, so maybe you’ve got a few bucks to spare this week and want to try them out.

  • Super Turrican (SNES, 800 Wii Points)
  • Psychosis (TG-16, 600 Wii Points)

Two new games for the PAL Virtual Console this Friday. They’re both inexpensive NES games, but I hear they’re both pretty decent. Anyone ever play either of these games?

  • Street Gangs (NES, 500 Wii Points)

Commodore 64 joins European Virtual Console

Published by Ryan under Virtual Console

080221commodore64.jpg

European Commodore 64 fans, rejoice! Nintendo has confirmed that they will be able to purchase titles such as Uridium and International Karate, as well as steady flow of C64 games later this year. Since this has only been confirmed in Europe, the rest of us will have to wait until further notice.

Now children can finally experience all the C64 games that their fathers used to talk about during camping trips alongside famous quotes such as, “I remember when Coke used to cost a nickel.”
