Mario beings iPod protection program

Published by Pete under Arts & Crafts

 ipodmariofront.jpg

Tired of those evil Koopas trying to scratch your iPod screen? Want to keep Bowser from scorching those precious gigabytes of music heaven? Well look no further! Everyone’s favorite plumber is on the job! This hand knit Mario iPod cozy is sure to turn heads, as well as solve the aforementioned problems. It even comes in two sizes to accommodate both iPod types. Mario for the larger music players, and Baby Mario for all the third generation nano owners out there. Luigi and Princess Peach versions are also available. All styles and sizes are $9.00. While I will admit that a soft protective cover for an iPod is nice, I have never felt it was necessary. These, however, may just swing my vote across party lines. More pictures of all styles after the break.

Custom Converse sneakers Nintendo’d out

Published by Robert under Arts & Crafts

converse-tanooki.jpg

Designer Cole Ranze handcrafted this wonderful work of art. The shoes feature all the well-known Nintendo characters; Kirby, Pikachu, Link, Luigi, Mario and Peach to name a few. Do these outshine the other Smash Bros. themed shoes we’ve seen before? Hard to say. But a lot of man hours went into these sneakers and it shows. They’re up for auction on eBay and at the time of writing are $249.99.

Upon winning said auction, Cole will get your shoe size and all that info and custom tailor you your own pair of Nintendo All-Star Converse Hightops. If you lose, don’t fret - he’s making a total of 10 of these, each pair of sneakers having separate bids. Good luck!

Proof that Kirby and food are one with each other

Published by Christian under Arts & Crafts

080408kirbybento.jpg

I suppose a bento in the likeness of Kirby isn’t exactly the hardest shape to make, but this one photographed (and made?) by MothHunter is just too good to pass up. That’s some quality eating right there. It’s also quite a role reversal, if you think about it…

Now you’re crafting with power…Super power!

Published by Christian under Arts & Crafts

It’s been a while since we’ve looked at some good papercraft creations. I’ve not had any time to make any of my own to share with you all, so we’ll have to rely on outside work for now. Ahem. This Super Nintendo model was put together by Ryo007. I don’t think I need to explain to any of you what a Super NES is, so I’m sure you’ll appreciate the work that was done here.

Duck Hunt skit hits a bullseye with the fans

Published by Christian under Videos, Arts & Crafts

At the Anime Boston 2008 event, several groups are invited to perform their own comedy skits. There were quite a few Nintendo-related skits this year, but it looks like one of the better ones featured the infamous dog. Yep, that one. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get shot.

You should still watch, though. It’s just that awesome of a skit.

Now you can eat what’s been through the sanitation system

Published by Christian under Arts & Crafts

If you’ve never heard of bento boxes, you need to read a little more. Not all bento boxes are this artistic, but something like this isn’t uncommon either. Sure beats your Power Rangers lunchbox, right? (…or Halo or Hannah Montana or whatever new designs they have these days.)

This particular Super Mario bento was found in boom tis ca’s photo gallery. If you’ve got something better, be sure to share it with us!

College kids found playing with mushrooms in Taiwan

Published by Christian under Culture, Arts & Crafts

080405mariontnu.jpg

College kids are geeks. All of them, in some way, shape, or form. We just are. It’s not just Americans, either.

This photo was taken at the National Taiwan Normal University, during xWIZEx’s travels around the area. I’m sure we’ve all seen similar decorations in the past, but it’s always fun to see them in other countries and out for the public to see. Click the image for the full-sized photo.

Wife Get!: A Mii themed Wedding invitation

Published by Ryan under Arts & Crafts, Wii

miiwedding.jpg

I’m pretty sure that all of you remember the Mii Jesus flyer for Easter Sunday, but it looks like others are also using Miis to promote an event. A Wii enthusiast named Kevin has created formal Mii wedding invitations for friends and family. To all of our surprise, Kevin’s wife-to-be actually blessed this idea.

What’s next, a Mii themed Bar Mitzvah, or a Mii themed Quinceañera? I’m pretty sure that if we looked hard enough, somebody in the world has done this.

LEGO Smash Bros…. the Final Destination

Published by Christian under Arts & Crafts

080331legosmash.jpg

Face it, you’ll never see a LEGO Smash Bros. game. For some of us, that’s good news - LEGOs stopped being cool after they went all Bionicle on us. For others, you probably hope I’m completely wrong and you’re expecting to see a LEGO Smash Bros. game someday… like that LEGO Halo you saw in EGM, right?

Once you’ve come to terms that the game will never happen, you might still be wondering what such a game might look like. graznador2 has brought together LEGO versions of Link, Mario, Snake, Mr. Game & Watch, Dr. Mario, Samus, Diddy Kong, R.O.B., and five different Yoshis on a LEGO Final Destination. Want to relive your childhood? Head past the break for pics.
