We recently told you about Valve saying they’d enter the console business if they felt they had to. Among the reports were specs of an internal prototype: a Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GPU. The device was said to rival the potential of the Apple TV set-top box as a gaming console.
Now (or rather, back in November), Valve employee Greg Coomer tweeted the above photo (click for full view) with this comment:
Built this tiny PC. i7 quad core, 8GB ram, Zotac Z-68 mobo w/ onnboard Nvidia mobile gfx. Runs Portal 2 FAST.
Sound familiar? Everything’s lining up, but it could just be a coincidence. It IS an older tweet, after all, and if Valve is indeed toying with the idea of selling hardware, there’s no evidence that Coomer is involved with the project.
