E3 2011: Tomb Raider “Turning Point” trailer

I probably spent more time hovering around the Square Enix booth than I needed to, but hey… I do that every year. Part of their lineup that was keeping me around was the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. You can view the E3 trailer above, before heading out to your local mall to pre-order the title. You know you’ll want to.

I didn’t realize Tomb Raider was a Square Enix franchise now. Looks interesting, and feels like a Final Fantasy opening sequence, you can tell the Square animators made it. We shall see how the gameplay is. Square always makes things looks good, but they don’t always get the other aspects right, especially in action games.

I can say without a doubt that the action in this game is fantastic, I felt it was even better than Uncharted in terms of pacing and energy.

Hay, they stole the beginning of the Bourne Identity in the opening seconds ;-) . I have to agree with Morgan Webb (Which I hate to do because she always hates what I like), until I actually see a good Tomb Raider game I’m going to pass. Plus what are they going to do after this one, remake the first one, jump ahead past the others, pretend the others never happened & this is some kind of alternate dimension? Smells bad to me.

That sounds pretty cynical. Morgan Webb is offbase. If she saw any footage of this game at all, she’d eat those words and then some. So sick of gamer cynicism especially from the so called gamer personalities. Seems like everyone is trying to pretend they have some kind of new insight by directly contradicting common sense. And Morgan, of all people, should STFU about games. I don’t like to take any advice whatsoever from those who build careers on manipulating unbalanced gender dichotomies.

Yeah they probably will pretend the others never happened, that’s what they do in re-boots. I will say it usually sounds bad, but sometimes it can be done well and if you make good games/stories its forgivable even by the most hard core of fans. Look at Link, seems like each game that comes out is just another re-boot.
