Available starting today you can now download The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening on the 3DS. As a free download, Legend of Zelda Four Swords will be available on the 3DS in September.
9 :16 AM: Audible crowd gasp as they reveal the special edition gold Wii controller launching with Skyward Swords.
For the 25th anniversary of Legend of Zelda, there will be an orchaestral concert tour! Two music CDs are also coming, the Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack (as a gift for the first to register their game with Club Nintendo), the second the Skyward Swords soundtrack, which will launch at the same time as the game.
9:21 AM: Satoru Iwata has taken the stage, discussing Nintendo’s goals to cast a wider net in terms of gamer appeal, from casual to hardcore. “To Serve Every Player”.
9: 25 AM: Mario Kart 3DS, Star Fox 3DS, the new Mario 3DS, Kid Icarus all make an appearance on screen…and what is this? LUIGI’S MANSION? On 3DS?
9: 27 AM: Reggie Fils Aime is now onstage, discussing the balance of nostalgia and new that now dominates the demand in the gamer market. This of course segues into discussion on the 3DS versions of classic Nintendo games now coming to the hand held, starting with Mario Kart. And omg I just saw paragliding in Mario Kart.
Mario Kart for 3DS is due out “this holiday season”.
On to Star Fox! Star Fox 64 3D has been upgraded to incorporate the 3DS’ tilt system. Group play will also be improved, with the avatars of your actual opponents in the window screen, provided by the 3DS camera.
Star Fox 64 3D is due this September.
Now we’re talking. Talking Mario 3DS, a fresh all new Mario game from scratch. And guess what people, he gets a Tanooki suit. The logo has a little raccoon tail on the end! Mario 3DS is promised “before the year is over”.
9: 35 AM: Kid Icarus Uprising is now onscreen, with much more complete footage than the trailer from last year. This one shows a bit of the 3 on 3 multiplayer battles and the ground and air combat. Also, Medusa. No, I did not turn to stone. This one comes out later this year.
9: 36 AM: Luigi’s Mansion 2. I cannot believe it. The underdog of Mario spin off titles is actually getting a sequel, and coming to 3DS! Make no mistake, it’s not a remake either, it’s a full new title, with several mansions instead of only one.
9:40 AM: Reggie is now getting a little more into detail about the Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console for 3DS, as well as the previously reported Pokedex 3D. A cute detail they hadn’t mentioned before: you can superimpose images of Pokemon into your 3DS photos.
9:45 AM: Wii U is officially announced, the mysterious controller that has dominated game news for the past few weeks. The Wii U as it turns out is a controller that let’s you switch your Wii game from the TV to the device’s inner screen. It also has a number of impressive accessory uses, including a SCOPE for aiming on your Wii games, or a virtual tee for golf. It also utilizes video chat,and can be used as your game menu (most impressively on Legend of Zelda).
9:57 AM: Iwata has announced a new Super Smash Brothers, both for Wii U and 3DS!
10:00 AM: The graphics on that Wii U screen are fantastic. The multiplayer screen options are impressive as well.
10: 02 AM: LEGO City Stories, a new game in the installment, is announced for Wii U and 3DS.
Darksiders II, Tekken, Batman Arkham City, Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online, Ninja Gaiden 3, all are coming to Wii U.
