Rumors back in October from Spanish language site Sonic Paradise spoke of an upcoming Sonic Anniversary title, promising to be a 3D and 2D mix of the levels that made Sonic great. Few details were given at the time, but it was revealed that the game was coming to Wii, DS, PS3, and PSP, with the Xbox 360 version “still under negotiations”. It is previously also known from E3 2010 that a Sonic title will be coming to the 3DS, though until now, there was no connection made between the two. A new podcast, however, has confirmed that Sonic Anniversary will also be a 3DS title, a detail from the original report that folks at Sonic Paradise said they missed.
Of course, since no one from Sega has officially confirmed this news, it’s best not to consider this rumor confirmed. However it is interesting to note the earlier detail of 3D and 2D level content and how it might coincide with 3DS functionality, which in and of itself might lend credence.
