Rumors from Joystiq indicated that Mass Effect 3 would be announced tomorrow at the Video Game Awards, and now a slip up in the EA store seems to back that up. Appearing momentarily and quickly taken down again, Mass Effect 3 went up for preorder for $59.99 on the PC platform, with the product description:
Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.
Of course, only tomorrow’s event will confirm Joystiq’s specific rumor, but for now it looks like the cat’s out of the bag.
