Video Games Live is returning to the Midwest! The world famous gaming concert series is stopping in Detroit on November 4th, Milwaukee on the 5th, Wichita, KS on the 9th, Kansas City on the 10th, and Evansville, IN on the 11th. More importantly, Video Games Live is headed to the Windy City on Saturday, November 6th, and we’re giving away some tickets to that show!
If you can make it to Chicago that weekend, Tommy Tallarico and co. will be playing at the Chicago Theatre at 8pm that Saturday night. We have two pairs of tickets for local Tanooki readers, and thus two ways to win! For those who follow us on Twitter, we’ll be revealing a “codeword” each day hidden in one of our daily posts. Send us a direct message with that day’s codeword and something to the effect of “I want VGL Chicago tix!” for a chance to win via a random drawing. Codewords are good until midnight central time, and you can enter once per day. To give you a head start, the codeword for 10/20 is PODIUM.
The other way you can win is to simply email us an original photo or video demonstrating your love for both video games and music, or — better yet — video game music. Be creative! Be passionate! Please include your email name, “The Tanooki” and “Video Games Live in Chicago” somewhere in your photo/video itself… any additional Tanooki/Chicago love will be noted! One email entry per person.

Contest and Dates: The Tanooki’s Video Games Live in Chicago Giveaway. From October 20th, 2010 through October 29th, 2010, The Tanooki will provide the opportunity to submit entries to win one of two pairs of tickets to the upcoming Video Games Live concert in Chicago, IL.
Eligibility and Limitations: In order to submit entries, participants and winners must be at least 18-years old or have consent from a parent or legal guardian and should preferably (but are not required to) be residing in the greater Chicago area. Only one (1) Twitter entry per household per day for this contest. Only one (1) Email entry per household for the duration of this contest. Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for The Tanooki or any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the contest or supplying the prize, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or play. “Immediate family members” shall mean parents, stepparents, children, stepchildren, siblings, stepsiblings, or spouses. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months in one calendar year.
How to Enter: There are two ways to enter. Participants can enter to win via one way, or both.
- Send a Direct Message on Twitter.com to The Tanooki (twitter.com/thetanooki) with that day’s “Codeword” and any statement indicating you specifically desire to see Video Games Live in Chicago. The Codeword will be revealed through a randomly selected post on The Tanooki (thetanooki.com) and will be valid until midnight, Central Time, that day. Only one Codeword entry per household per day.
- Send an Email to The Tanooki at vglchicago [at] thetanooki [dot] com with a photo or video attachment or link to a photo or video hosted on an open online sharing service. For verification purposes, include in the photo or video the name or screenname you use to email your entry, along with “The Tanooki’s Video Games Live in Chicago Giveaway.” All submitted entries become the property of The Tanooki and will not be returned and may be used by The Tanooki for any purpose and in any media in perpetuity. Only one Email entry per household for the duration of this contest.
How to Win: Two separate winners in total will be chosen. One (1) winner will be selected by random drawing of all entries submitted through Direct Message on Twitter.com by October 29th, 2010. One (1) winner will be selected by judges among The Tanooki staff of all entries submitted through Email by October 29th, 2010. In the event that the original winner(s) does not meet Official Rules or eligibility requirements, or he/she or parent or legal guardian forfeits the prize, The Tanooki will award prize to first alternate. In the event of the same person being chosen for both contest methods, that winner shall win the Email contest and an alternate will be drawn from remaining entries via Twitter.com Direct Message. Processes will continue until prizes are awarded.
All entries must be received on or before October 29th, 2010. The selection will be held October 30th, 2010. Decision of the judges and The Tanooki is final. The winner of the Twitter drawing will be notified by Direct Message on Twitter.com while the winner of the Email contest will be notified by email. Winners must meet all eligibility requirements and have 72 hours from notification to respond and confirm to receive prize.
By entering, each contestant agrees to be bound by the rules. The Tanooki, Video Games Live, The Chicago Theatre, their promotional agents and contest co-sponsors are not responsible for illegible, lost, delayed or misdirected messages, or incomplete entries.
Prizes: Two (2) winners, one for each method of contest entry, will each receive a pair of tickets to VIDEO GAMES LIVE “Bonus Round” at the Chicago Theatre on November 6th, 2010. All tickets will be held at will call at the Chicago Theatre for the winners to claim prior to the concert. There are no other prizes. Tickets are not redeemable for cash. Tickets will not be awarded until The Tanooki receives a confirmation of the winner’s name and intent to use the tickets. Failure of winners to respond to notification within the required timeframe will result in automatic forfeiture of any prizes and tickets shall be awarded to an alternate winner.
