We knew Donkey Kong’s rhino friend Rambi was destined to be in the upcoming Wii revival of the Country franchise, appropriately dubbed Donkey Kong Country Returns, since he was featured on the game’s leaked boxart. We just didn’t know to what extent he’d be implemented. Thanks to a new gameplay trailer, we now know that Rambi returns as DK’s preferred transportation method, just like he did in the original game.
As you can tell above, not much seems to hurt Rambi as you ride him through treacherously spiked terrain. Apparently, fire is the only element that sends Rambi running, with many fire ring levels laced throughout the gorgeous environments.
We don’t know yet if any other animal friends will make appearances, but since this specific trailer proudly proclaims the character’s presence with an “Introducing Rambi,” title, I have a hunch we’ll get a few more introductions in the coming weeks, until the game’s November release.
