Valve promising three “pretty big” surprises in the coming year

A recent comment to PC Gamer UK by Valve boss Gabe Newell has fans once again raising high Half Life hopes for the future. Said Newell:

“I can guarantee you people are going to be surprised at stuff we do. That isn’t going to stop any time soon. I’m just laughing because… people will be shocked again…We have three pretty big surprises in the next 12 months at least.”

While I’m sure he means a trio of separate surprises, I think the anticipation surrounding Half Life 2: Episode 3 would be enough to take up all three. Or how about Half Life 3? Maybe both? Oh now I’m just being ridiculous.

    Just give us Episode 3, Valve. That's what we all want, not Left 4 dead 3 or DLC for L4D. Just release episode 3 & get it over with then do whatever the hell you like. I mean jesus christ Duke Nuke Forever is going to come out before episode 3!

      Actually, I think people do still want that L4D DLC but I doubt that's what they're doing. But wouldn't be interesting? If they did that and Episode 3? And then maybe stopped taking their sweet ass precious time so we wouldn't have to use phrases like “Valve time”? See, there I go getting ridiculous again.

    K, let me do a more “G” rated comment since my other comment was removed (sorry about the swearing). I would much appreciate if valve would get of there fat lazy butt & put out Episode 3. Guess what Valve, if you release a product, you don't have to answer questions about when that product is going to be released. See how that works. Don't get me wrong I like Left 4 Dead, but doing episode 1 & 2 then leaving us blowing in the wind is kinda like doing Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back then saying “We're going to do the third one some day, but we want to do some horror films & other stuff first. It will come out when it comes out”. Maybe they're drawing it out till we all forget about it, then they don't have to make it.

    They need to announce a Left 4 Dead 3…. Im just saying the way they left it off needs a third one to finish it off….

      So soon after the second, after they robbed L4D fans of their DLC by releasing L4D2 so soon? That certainly *would* be a surprise…
