More Speculation about the PSP 2 Surfaces

The Interwebs have been abuzz lately with speculation that a successor to the PSP is in the works, and a recent post from VG247 adds even more fuel to this fire. Citing several unnamed but supposedly well informed insider sources, the article contains details on some of the hardware’s expected features and capabilities. These include touch screen functionality, two cameras (one on the inside, the other on the back), and dual-analog controls.

The PSP 2 is also supposed to be much more powerful than the current model, utilizing a four-core Cell CPU. To put this into perspective, the PS3 console currently runs off of an eight-cell CPU, meaning that the PSP 2 could offer a truly gorgeous gaming experience on the go. While none of this has been officially confirmed, these sources claim that Sony is preparing to announce the PSP 2 later on this year, potentially at the Tokyo Game Show. As always, stay tuned to The Tanooki for more details on this story as they emerge.
