A recent submission to the FCC by Nintendo and electronics manufacturer Mitsumi may have revealed something new about the 3DS. This picture above is of the prototype hardware provided in the filing. While most of the components are indecipherable, as you can see, there are two screens on the more right hand side, the DS’ signature touch pad, and the upper viewing screen, which is uncharacteristically wider than the one below it. Does this mean the 3DS will be wide screen? While the filing was related to wi-fi, there doesn’t seem to be a reason to include a widescreen on a prototype piece of hardware if it does not in fact exist.
