Nintendo has announced that on Monday, May 17th, the company will be hosting a press event in NYC, jointly with the American Heart Association. So what’s this all about?
It may have something to do with the mysterious Vitality Sensor, shown at E3. While the device is set to get some much needed stage time at this year’s conference next month, the uniqueness of the device may be the reason for an early press event. The Vitality Sensor is said to read your heart rate and other factors for use in video games, by gathering different readings from the human body. Clearly, there may also be some health benefits associated with the device.
Similarly, Nintendo announced their Wii MotionPlus add-on prior to their E3 conference in 2008. Doing that alleviated an in depth technical explanation during their actual press conference, giving time for more gameplay demonstrations.
Stay tuned.
