Level-5 confirms Time Travelers for new platform

The newest issue of Famitsu magazine has an interview with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino in which he revealed a new game to be in the works. The Professor Layton developer is working on a new large scale game called Time Travelers that Hino hopes will become his company’s next hit. While Hino himself will serve as a producer, Jiro Ishii will be directing the game. Ishii is known for directing Chunsoft’s 428: F?sa Sareta Shibuya de for the Wii, PS3, and PSP, with the Wii version receiving the coveted 40/40 score from Famitsu.

The new game will, understandably, be centered on a time travel theme, something that Ishii says will be an “ultimate ingredient” that he’s been hoping to use for a while now. His ideas have supposedly never before been used in movies or novels, and he’s hoping the game will achieve a timeless status, along the lines of 1985′s Back to the Future and 2006′s The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

Finally, Akihiro Hino revealed that we haven’t yet seen the game’s platform.

“Centered on hardware that’s not yet in this world, it will expand to other hardware.”

Do we finally have the first 3DS game in development?
