Thought Super Mario Galaxy was a bit on the easy side? Then you should be happy to hear that the sequel will be noticeably harder. It’s not going to be Mega Man-difficult – it is a Super Mario game after all – but it’s being designed on the assumption that the player has obtained the minimum 70 stars and beaten the final boss in the preceding Super Mario Galaxy.
Speaking of difficulty, we’ve heard that the game is tougher overall than Super Mario Galaxy 1. Is that true?
Exactly. The game has been developed and designed so that those who have conquered the prequel, Super Mario Galaxy 1, can feel as if it’s a continuation from the ending of that first game. In other words, the difficulty level is set in that kind of sense, so that it’s more difficult for the beginner, and especially more difficult for the beginner who has never played the first game. I believe that there are a lot of things that they have to learn in the first one.
Always good to hear when a game for the core audience is getting a little bit more challenging. There’s a ton of interesting new comments from Miyamoto on Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the same interview, so you might want to head on over and check it out for yourself!
