McDonalds employees of Japan to be trained on Nintendo DS?

According to AndriaSang, McDonalds Japan has unveiled a plan to begin training employees via the Nintendo DS. The program, which will cost McDonalds Japan roughly 400 million yen ($2.2 million USD), is called eSmart and will use software as a training tool for part time employees. Citing wide spread familiarity with the Nintendo DS interface, McDonalds Japan expects to cut training time for new employees in half.

With this new program, I’ll finally have something in common with McDonalds Japan employees other than constant close proximity to french fries (what can I say, I have an addiction). We both require the Nintendo DS for legitimate employment-related purposes.

I wonder how many people will actually stick to the training manual. Interesting to say the least though, Nintendo is really breaking through in Japan.
