Sony says Move over Wii!

With Sony’s new motion control device set to launch later this year, it’s indefinite that mud shall be slung between the motion king Nintendo and newcomer Sony. PlayStation’s motion endeavor will launch with support from the industry’s top developers, and the world’s gamers are eager to get their hands on the device, and sub device.

Despite curiosity, it’s fair to say that most gamers are anticipating their PlayStation Move playtime in order to compare the controller to Nintendo’s current offering. In fact, Sony’s GDC demo even showed Table Tennis as part of a mini-game compilation, setting themselves up for market comparison given Wii Sports Resort’s similar sports title.

“When you’re talking about a game that was demoed like ‘Table Tennis’ out there, you might be able to play that on another system, but I think we showed very well that you can get that top spin or slice in there and it really feels like you’re playing a ‘Table Tennis’ game,” Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde said in an interview with Industry Gamers. “Also, because of the camera, the PS Eye, we add that whole element of augmented reality. And I think that’s a big advantage we have over what the Wii has done to date.”

I’d say without Wii’s MotionPlus, Sony may have a point on the Wii Remote’s accuracy. Otherwise those are some strong claims against the leaders in motion control technology. Fanboys, start picking sides. The battle for motion supremacy is just getting started.

Man, idk what to think about it. Looks like they're just jumping on the bandwagon, after seeing the success of Nintendo. However, I feel that Nintendo games are more suited to it and that with Sony, it feels like a waste, just like the eye toy was. Funny they picked Table Tennis to complain about, because even in Wii Sports Resort, it was pretty bad, and I would know, played on my HS TT team.
